## **Message from The Vemoye Foundation’s CEO – Korede Awobowale**

In 2021 we took action. We built a volunteer team that was passionate about Africa and completed a project based in Kenya. This was our first project, and it opened our eyes to the value of the work we are doing and the impact we can make if we are able to scale up. We were truly grateful to be a part of the stories of these young people who will go on to transform their communities and be trailblazers in their generation.

2021 was about learning more about who we are as a charity by trying. We learnt that we can achieve a great deal with little and envisioned a future where our impact reached greater heights. At The Vemoye Foundation we are committed to raising Africa’s future workforce and the reception we have received from communities and organisations has shown us that the work we are doing is needed.

## **What We Did In 2021**

## _The Olotepesi Project_

We partnered with the Olotepesi Foundation to create a project around one of their objectives. They are a Kenya-based charity focused on supporting children in need, improving access to safe water, environmental conservation, and the reduction of poverty. It operates in two selected counties - Kajiado and Kisii in areas - where Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) are struggling to meet their basic needs and lack access to educational facilities.

We created a project around reintegrating children within those communities back into school postcovid. The scope of the project was to provide sustainable access to schooling by removing the financial constraint for the students up until they complete secondary school.

We were able to raise funds to support 5 children. These children have been given the help and support they need to complete their education.

## _Information Dissemination_

In 2021 we zoomed into education-based content. Education & Society was an Instagram Live based programme that hosted conversations exploring the link between education and different elements of society. The purpose of these conversations was to show how impactful education is on our society at large. We had several different experts all representing different facets of our society that taught us all about how we can use education to build a better society.
