Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
The organisation provides items and services to individuals in need. The organisation carries out its purposes by identifying poverty-stricken individuals/families, with a primary focus on but not limited to widows and orphans. We take into account a number of factors to identify that the potential beneficiaries are infact victims of poverty by assessing the living standards of the potential beneficiaries and their ease of access to basic necessities. Key indicators that are considered are the geographical location and its economic strength; the presence of any breadwinners in the family and whether they have access to work; the occurrence of any events that may have brought about poverty such as earthquakes or war; research conducted by reputable organisations such as UNHCR; and the presence of any other charities or organisations working in the same area or with the same beneficiaries to prevent or relieve poverty. We specifically focus on three elements, which include the ease of access to: 1) food and water; 2) clothing; and 3) shelter. Where we identify a need for any of these three factors, we provide items and services as necessary. Where there is a need for food and/or water, we purchase food and/or water and distribute it to the beneficiaries. Where the land provides the capability to build wells, we assess the option to do so. Where there is water present but there is an urgent need for clean water, we provide LifeStraws. As for clothing, for those suffering from poverty, we provide clothing attained by way of purchase and/or by way of donated items. In regard to housing, we work alongside |
| social housing organisations to help secure housing for families in need. Where no social housing organisations exist, we secure housing for families using local housing agencies/landlords. Rents and utility bills are paid for by the charity directly to the housing agents/landlords and to utility providers. Where there is need for emergency shelter, we also distribute tents. |
