The charity remained positive in respect of the finalising of negotiations with the London Borough of Ealing for the sub-lease of the library premises lo the charity (for which the premises are lo be fil for purposel and the service level agreement for the running of the Community Managed Library. In the meantime, the charity oversaw the day-Io-d8y running of the library, including organising the rola for volunteers, conducting training with new volunteers and continuing day-lo-clay training with existing volunteers for the functioning of the library and engagement with users. All matters in respect of book stock and IT systems continued lo be operated by the Council. Section D Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year The charity was established with the primary purpose of operating a Community Managed Library. Our offer was always intended lo be wider than a traditional library service, aimed al helping children and young people achieve and succeed, supporting economic opportunities, facililaling beller mental and physical health and encouraging independent and active lives for older residents. As al 31st March 2025, following delays due lo the pandemic and negotiations with the freeholder, the charity and London Borough of Ealing were finalising negotiations in respect of the sub-lease for the premises and service level agreernenl lo cater for all relevant mallers regarding the operation of the library. The Iruslees continued to worked with the Council (whereby the library opened on 8 three day a week basis) with the volunteers, rota being handled by the Iruslees. The Iruslees and volunteers have carried out all library duties land organised special evenlsl save those in respect of the weekly transporting of book stock and IT which still fall within the Council's remit. The Iruslees have continued lo encourage applicalioris by school pupils in respect of the Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteering requirement and students have flourished in this role. To dale, the charity has overseen more than 30 students in ronze, Silver and Gold categories. The re-eslablishmenl of the library after a number of years of closure continues lo be welcomed and embraced by the community and is an integral parl of that community, with new joiner numbers increasing as well as daily visits.
