Sexcenten8ry Charity Fund determined that the aims ol the lalter WOU￿ be bellei served by the establishment of
a Charitable Incorporated Organisati(>n known as The Scrivener8' Company Sexcenlenary Charity CIO which
W85 registered with the Charily Commission on 18 February 2020 Iregislered nutnbgi 11880201.

Providing for the rel￿f of hardship among Liverymen and Freemen of the Worshipful Company of
Scriveners and their dependents.,
The making ol grants lo schools, colleges and other organisations for the advancement of education and
Contrib￿ting in whole or in part, lo bursaries being awarded by such schools, collèges and other
organisalions, particularly bul not limited to those involved in trades and crafts 8ssociated with the
Worshipful Company of Scriv¢neis',
The relief of those in need by re8son of youth, age, ill.heallh. disability, finanolal haidship or other
disadvantage.,
The advancement of culture and heritag8 in the trades and crafts associated wllh the Woishiplul

At evtsry annual gen81al Theeling of the Members of the CIO, one third of the Trustees shall retire by rolalion
being those who have been the longest in office since their last appointment or reappointment. Vacancie5 aii5ing
may be filled by a decision of the Trustees of the Charrty. Trustees 50 appointed sh811 offer themselves for re-

In set(ing objectives and planning for actwities. the Trustees have given due consideration lo general guidance

Achievements and performance
Review of activities
In the year ended 31 July 2024, the Charity generaled income of £31,34512023'. £3D.110) from donations and
inveslmenls. A number of grants will be awarded and communicated to beneficiaries after 31 July 2024. As
such, fewer grants were awarded by the Trustees in the year ended 31 July 2024 Ihan the prior year, being £950
12023.. £32,350), including £Nil12023.. £3.0001 from the Julia Hell 400th Anniversary Fund.
Invostm8nt policy and perlomiance
The investments held by the Charity have been managed in accordance with the powers available lo the
Trustees.
Al 31 July 2024, the investtnent portfolio showed an uniealEsed gain of £44,713 12Q23,. £6.71018nd 8 loss on
disposal of invesltnents of £26612023.. £Nill.
Flnancial rèvlew
Going concern
DL¢e to the continuing support of our donors and the Trustees reserves policy as outlined below and after making
appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable exp?ctation that the Charity has adequate resources to
continue in operational existence for Ihe foreseeable future. For this ￿asOn, th8y continu8 to adopt the going
concem basis in preparing the fin8naal st8tem6nts.

Reserves policy
Reserves are invested to produce income which when added lo the annual donations re￿iVed enables the
Trustees to maintain 18vel p8yrnents in furth81anc8 of the Charify's objectives. This is subject to the Truslees.
policy of maintaining cash reserve with a value equivalent lo a minirnum one year's charitable dDnation5 payaLIe,
which is of the order of £30,OOQ lo £34,000 per annum.

As the Truslees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the atcounts in accordance with the

Accounting policies
2.1 Basls of preparation of financial ststements
The financial statements have been piepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021
Accounting and Reporting by Chaiilies.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charIt￿S
preparing their accounts in accoidance wilh the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 (effective 1 January 20191, the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Charities Act 2011.
The finan¢ial slalemenls have been prepared to give a 'true and fai¢ view and have departed from
the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Règulations 2008 only lo the exlent required lo provide a 'true
and lair. view. This depart￿re has involved follrjwing the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 published in
October 2019 ralhei than the Accounting and Reporting by Charities". Stalernenl of Recommended
Piactice effective from 1 April 20Q5 which has since been withdrawn.
The Scrweners, Company Sexcenlen8ry Charity. CIO meets the definition of a publlc b8n81it 8nlily
under FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value
unless oth8rwis8 sl2led in the relevant accounling policy.
If the CIO is wound up, the rnembers of the CIO have no liability to contribute to its 8ssets and no
personal responsibility for settling ils debt and liabililies.
The financlal slalements are presented in Pounds Sterfing and rounded lo the nearest £1.
2.2 Income
All income is recognised On￿ the Charity has entit￿rnent lo the income, il is probable that the
income will be re￿IVed and the amount ol income receivable can be measured reliably.
Income tax recoverable in relation lo donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is
rèeognised 81 the lime of the donalion.
Income tax recoverab18 in relat￿￿ lo tnve8lmenl income is recognised at the lime the inveslrnenl
income is receivable.
2.3 Expenditure
Expenditure is recognlsed once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer e¢onomiG benefit
tD a thrrd party, il is probable th81 a transfer of economie benefits will be requiied in selllemenl and
the amount of the obligalion Can be measured reliably.
Expendilure on raising fund5 includes all expenditure incurred by the Charity to raise funds for its
charitable purposes and includes co¥1$ of all fundraising activities events and non-¢haiitable trading.
Expendituie on charit8ble activities is incurred on directly undertaking the activitie8 wh￿h further the
Charity's objectives, as well as any associated support costs.

All expendilure is inclusive of irrecoverable VAT.
2.4 Interest receivabl8
Inleresl on lunds held on deposit is included when receivable and the amount can be measured
r61iably by the Charity, this is normally upon notifieation of thè intarèst paid or payable by the
institution with whom the funds are dèposited.
2.5 Investments

cannot be measured reliably in which case il is measured at cost less impairment. Inveslment gains

2.7 Cash at bank and In hand
Cash al bank and in hand includes cash and 5hort-lerm hi9hly liquid investments wlh a short malurily
of th￿e months or less from the dale of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar accounl.
2.8 LiabilitieB and provi8iong
Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligation at the Balance sheet date as a result of a past
event, it is probable Ihat a llansfer of economic benefit will be required in seltlement, and the amount
of the settlement can be eslimaled reliably.

donors 01 which have been iaised by the Charity for particular purposes. The costs ol raising and
