Reflecting on the last year, we became a re¥i5tered charity on 17 FetKuary 2020 and then lockdown hlt In

Chair's Report
Bridge the Gap began in the autumn of 2019 with a ￿11 pilot with the support of Saint Marls Church
In Southampton and Hartr￿1r Church Port911outh. The westion behlnd thevision wa5 how could we xjmehow
bridge-not Just the ¥ap-￿t the seemingly vast gulf between the average football-lo￿n9 young adult and
the church? This questlon has vexed the most gifted and successful church leaders. If the statistic5 are
anythlng to 80 by, the church In the UK ha5 largely not answered the question. While the trend5 are complex
and often a￿ear bleak, there are Incre&ng ￿9n$ of hope. NC4￿thele5s, It is clear-to me at least-that a
new approach is rewired. Indeed. need a williwness to ￿brace a ne+¥ type of entrepreneurial

estsbllshed church. However. this is exactly vthat happer*d when Flnch. the Vicar at Salnt Mary's
Southampton, recognlsed thls entreprenaJrial leader5hlp talent In TrtSt￿. Not only did he recogn15e the

Followlng a very successful pilot at Saint Mary'5 and HarLvJr that led to 49 people attending an Alpha course
