## **Achievements and Performance**

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|The main achievements this year have
been:
•
Setting up the charity
•
Organising and training Volunteers
•
Running workshops
•
Never alone Campaign
•
School Workshops
•
Production of Material
•
Fund raising – we were able to raise
funds and donations, we raised
£3760 in the year and at STC
events £1,451 was raised in
donations.
•
We were recognised with the
following awards for the service
included Slough Mayors Award for
our support in the Community.
Due to COVID19 the year has been
challenging for charities and the
community. However as a charity we are
flexible and responsive. As the pandemic
hit we set up Sakoon in the Community
(SIK) to support vulnerable residents with
grocery and prescription collections. We
had a Retro fund-raiser Disco planned in
March and we took an executive decision
to cancel and return everyone's ticket
money due to the early onset of COVID19,
we are proud that we took this step as it
demonstrated we were an ethical charity
and gave other charities the confidence to
do likewise, this was evident from
Facebook and other social media
platforms.
Due to unprecedented times we all had to
think differentially and embrace the new
world of social distancing and hands, face
and space. As a Breast Cancer Charity
during Brest Cancer Awareness Month, we
mobilised on Instagram using “ My Insta
Story” storyline - each day we interviewed
South Asian Woman Cancer survivors
focussing on their journey and stories.
Story telling is a powerful tool in
encouraging dialogue at a community level
for a very culturally sensitive issue.
During the pandemic we partnered with
Slough CVS and piloted a be-friending
service. It was noted that South Asian
women felt extremely isolated trying to|

combat their Cancer Diagnosis during lock down and because of cultural taboos they face. We submitted a bid to Berkshire Community Foundation and was successful in securing £5000 to develop our befriending Service “Good to Talk”. We engaged on a few talks to raise awareness with business and community. 22/10/20 - Cross Civil Service Working through Cancer, GLD Disability & Well-being Network - Lifting the Lid on Cancer Breast Cancer talk to staff at Ipsen, Q&A session from staff and Diversity and Inclusion Reps.
