Objectives and activities
On the 15th of September 2019 baby Wynter was born 'in a moment of beauty' but she sadly passed away just 23 minutes after her birth.
Parents Sarah and Gary set up the charity in October 2019 which was given registered charity status in February 2020.
The charity aims to support bereaved parents and families who have been affected by the loss of a baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth or the loss of a child at any age.
The main activities of the charity included:
Providing ‘Wynter’s Wish’ literature and toys for bereaved families and/or healthcare professionals supporting those families in order to promote the emotional, psychological and physical health and wellbeing of parents and provide them with comfort and support.
The relief of financial hardship among bereaved families
Providing grants of financial assistance to charities and voluntary organisations who raise awareness of baby loss and support families affected by baby loss.
3
To raise public awareness of the impact of baby loss and to sign post bereaved families to crucial support services.
4
Structure, governance and management
Type of governing document
Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) - FOUNDATION Registered 17 Feb 2020. The governing document is the charity’s constitution.
Trustee recruitment and appointment
There have been no changes in trustees for this period.
The trustees are responsible for appointing any new trustees. Consideration should be given to the skills and experiences of any new trustee and how these may be beneficial to the charity. Trustees should also ask for a character reference to ascertain the suitability and trustworthiness of the proposed trustee.

Achievements and performance
Achievements and performance
Cold Cot Donation
Wynter’s Wish provided 2 x cold cots to local hospitals.
A cold cot is a refrigerated cot that allows parents to spend more time with their deceased baby than would otherwise be possible. The cold cot helps parents to bond with their baby and aids the grieving process.
The cots have been secured using funds donated to the charity. They have been gifted (in liaison with ‘Abigail’s Footsteps Charity number 1149005) to Chesterfield and Nottingham City Hospital.
City Hospital Bereavement midwife “We are so grateful for the donation of the Cot to our hospital, It makes such a difference to families but also to staff to be able to facilitate this care for families.”
7
Public Awareness Events
Coronavirus has had an adverse impact on our ability to fundraise and raise awareness at public events. However, we were very grateful to have been provided an opportunity to attend a covid secure public event.
We raised just over £400 at this event which will support our charitable aims.
NHS Illustration Print
During the pandemic the charity commissioned an illustration in the style of the Wynter’s Wish children’s book. This special edition, NHS print, was sold to raise funds for the charity which were donated to bereavement services during the pandemic.
8
Wynter’s Wish Children’s Story Publication
The publication of the Wynter’s Wish children’s story has been delayed until October 2021 due to the pandemic. This is a key initiative being progressed by the charity. This story will be used as a support resource for bereaved families and professionals.
Sponsored Sky Dive
Due to the pandemic the charity skydive was postponed and rescheduled for August and September 2021.
Donations
The charity made several charitable donations to the following bereavement support services:
Zephyrs
Who provide nurturing support for bereaved families following the loss of a pregnancy, baby or child.
Sands United FC (Loughborough)
A support network to Dad's and their families who have experienced stillbirth, miscarriage or neonatal death

Statement of the charity’s policy on reserves
We recognise the importance of developing a policy with
regards to reserves and the charity will develop and implement this policy during this next period of review.
As a small charity it has been difficult to raise funds during the coronavirus
pandemic and as such our limited reserves were prioritised to enable the charity to continue with and develop projects (chiefly, the
publication of a children's story that will support bereaved families).
10
Future plans
The charity will strive to continue to achieve its objectives in the future, raising funds through donations, seeking corporate support and fundraising events to ensure the charity's objectives are met.
