Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governlng document The Charity is a Charitable incorporated organisation (118780). The Trustees are satisfied Ihat the Charity's work is undertaken with regard lo th8 Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. The year 2023-2024 was a period of further consolidation for the Charity. During the year ended 31 March 2024 the Charity ran weekly lunchtime and after school clubs and workshops in food growing. arts and crafts and gardening for children and young people in Southwark. Throughout the period 1 April 2023- 31 March 2024 the Charity delivered go clubs and workshops with 1,038 attendances (excluding 'unique' allendances) over a period of 174 hours. As in previous years, the focus of the Charity's delivery behveen April 2023 and March 2024 was at Surrey Square School, London, SE17. Over the summer months in 2023 the growing spaces al Surrey Square School were ulilised for holiday growing 8nd art clubs, vital maintenance work took place, and the Surrey Square hub was used for a CSR volunteering day for Nespresso. Throughout the year the Charity continued to develop and support ils offer for all children fiom Early Years to Year 5. Summary of the main activities undertaken for the publi¢ benefit in relation to these objects (include within this se¢tlon the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guldance issued by the Charity Commission on publlc benefit) With the involvement of a new tutor for the autumn term 2023. the Charity's offer expanded lo include forest school and outdooT learning principles al Surrey Square. All Clubs run by the Charity are tailored to the needs of children who attend. both in terms of capability and age. For example, early years and nursery children are taught healthy eating principles, make and take home simple salads from vegetables grown, attend group storytelling sessions, go on trips outside the school to Walworth Garden and assist in the Nursery garden makeover. Children in all Years are engaged in indoor growing in the Surrey Square school polytunnel. During the period, they were taught root systems of plants and worked on nature-based worksheets. Artistic sessions included drawing from nature, print making, making signage, decorating pots, mosaic and collage making, papeT making and making lavender and tie-dyed bags. The engagement of a tutor with music and art skills has added an extra dimension lo the Charity's work. Throughout the period the Charity conducted regular maintenance of the polytunnel. Planling spaces 8t the school were enhanced. In the summer of 2023 a number of raised beds were constructed using grant funding received from Soulhwark Council's Cleaner, Greener, Safer capital funding programme. The Charity continues to give free practical advice to community gardeners on an ad hoc basis. Through ils connections with local businesses and donations, the Charity was able to distribute plants, food and arts materials lo children. It also received via a funder in kind 38 wooden stools. which were distributed March 2012 TAR

throughout Surrey Square School. At the end of the autumn term Team London Bridge donated 45 Christmas gifts for the Early Years cohort of young growers at Surrey Square School. Addltional details of objectlves and activities (Optlonal Informalionl The Charity is entirely run by volunteeTS and has been able to offer a consistent level of quality and supervision in its clubs due to commitment from volunteer support of the session lutor. In supporting Ihe employment ol a tutor trained at Goldsmiths College, the Charity is proud to be able to offer work experience to its volunteers and paid tutors for their own portfolios, and as hands-on experience for their future careers as educators. The Ch8rily has received commitments for grant funding froTll local funders and London Borough of Soulhwark forthe year 2024-2025. The Chaiily Gonlinues to run, with the assistance of volunteers, the Thought Press Project. This involves 100 printmakers throughoul Ihe UK donating prints free of charge to Thought Press Project, which are then sold both online and at street stalls and fairs. Net proceeds raised are then split with a partner Charity with similar ambitions that deliver in the London Borough of Southwark.- in 2023 the Charity Partner was Magi Breakfasl and in 2024 it is Place 2be. Section D Achievements and performance After-school clubs and workshops, lunchtlme ¢lubs As in previous years, activity clubs are the core woik of the Charity. The Charity has further consolidated its reputation wilhln Southwark and with its regular funders for being a qualily provider. The Charily's offor has remained Gonsislent with previous years. The Charity continues to be Vegetable Advocales for the Food Foundation, members of the 4 in 10 London Child's Poverty Network, Social Farms and Gardens, Old Kent Road Family Zone and the RHS for Schools Community Garden Programme. Summary of the main achlevements of the charity durlng the year Expansion of Reach The Charity consults informally on allotment 8nd growing projects. The Early Years and Nursery offer has been consolidated this year, with a greater variety and depth of engagemenl. The Charity has worked with several major companies around CSR days for their staff- most ni)tsble Nespresso, Marks & Spencer and Thames WateT. Expanslon of the outdoor learnlng area and sesslon tutoring at Surrey Square The Charity maintained and developed its outdoor learning spaGe al Surrey Square School with the addition raised beds and an enhanced offer of arts-based learning. This in turn has led to the outdoor learning being the basis of classroom-based discussion and learning. Partnerships Throughout the period the Charity continued to work with Team London Bridge and Soulhwark Council. despite constraints on funding generally. Both organisations remain supportive of the Charity's work. The Charity also enjoys strong relationships with Good Gym Soulhw2rk ènd Hands on London. Public Recognition In April 2024 the children of Surrey Square in our after-$¢hool clubs achieved Level 1 oflhe RHS School Gardening Awards. The Leve5 1 Award recognises the children's understanding of Ihe Importan￿ of the environment, food growing, biodiversity and sustainability while developing lif&skills such as teamwork, resilience and confidence, and improving physical and mental well-being. We were delighted that our Founder, Christina Nilsen, was awarded The Liberty of the Old Metropolitan Borough of caMbe￿ell al The Soulhwark Civi¢ Awards, Soulhwark Cathedral, on 20 May 2023. The Liberiy Award celebrates Chrislina's exceptional voluntary contribution to civic and community life in The London Borough of Soulhwark, of which the work o the Charity has been a major part.
