FRIENDS OF THE VILLAGE HALL
The “Friends of the village hall” is a scheme put in place to provide a steady reliable income for the hall; to keep it well maintained and functioning efficiently.
Local residents are encouraged to make a regular annual ‘gift aid’ payment for £1 per week (£52 per year). Friends then benefit from discounts and recognition of their support.
GIFT AID?
Wherever possible basic rate tax can be claimed back on Gift Aid contributions, so every Friend’s donation of £52 per year becomes £65.
CHARITY AIMS
Hope Mansell Village Hall is a charity whose object is the provision and maintenance of a village hall for the use of the inhabitants of the parish of Hope Mansell, without distinction of political, religious or other opinions. Its use being for entertainment, meetings, lectures and classes and other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the people of the parish.
FUND RAISING
Funds are raised in a number of ways:
-
Profits from pub nights
-
Profits from dinner evenings
-
Profits from coffee mornings and cake sales
-
Polling station income from general, local and Police Commissioner elections
EVENTS
Village Hall provides regular events to support and entertain the village community. These functions include pop-up pub nights, themed food nights - feeding up to 40 people - and coffee mornings. The hall is occasionally hired out for local social evenings, wedding receptions and fitness classes as well as a meeting place for local organisations such as the Parish Council.
Herefordshire council also hires the hall as a polling station for general, local and police commissioner elections.
GOVERNANCE
The trustees hold meetings four or five times a year to discuss issues in relation to the hall and its use for the community.
