in Forest Holocaust Educational Trust Re ort of the Trustees for the ear ended 31st March 2024 The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the period ended 31st March 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" issued in March 2005. Charitable ob.ects (a) Commemorating and remembering the victims of the Holocaust (the persecution and mass murder of six million Jews by the Nazis and their accomplices during the period 1933-1945) and other victims targeted by Nazi polocies through: (i} the establishment and maintenance of a permanent Holocaust memorial within the the District of Eppin8 Forest; and (li) the promotion, organisation and support of the annual Holocaust Memorial Day within the District of Epping Forest; The advancement of education for the public benefit in the history of the Holocaust and also of the persecution and murder of other groups of people as part of Nazi policies, together with the contemporary relevance of such events. The promotion of equality and diversity for the public benefit and in particular the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of race, disability. sexual orientation or religion by raising the awareness of the public concerning the causes and effects of racism and prejudice in society including the significant impact of the Holocaust and subsequent acts of systematic discrimination, in particular those leading to genocide. Appointment of trustees is governed by the Trust deed of the charity. The board of trustees is authorised to appoint trustees at their discretion. Trustee induction and trainin The charity ensures that all trustees are diretted to the extensive guidance available on the Charity Commi55ion website in relation to the role of trustees and their responsibilities. Trustees are aware that it is their responsibility to keep abreast of developments in relation to the governance of charities. anisation and staffin Trustee meetings are held regularly at 107 Epping New Road or by Zoom etc. The trust is not dependent on the services of any other unpaid volunteers. There are no formal arrangements or agreements between lessor of 107 Epping New Road and the Trust Volunteers The charity is dependent on the voluntary work of the trustee5 in administering its funds. Related arties The charity does not have any related parties or affiliated organisations. Risk mana ement The trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the charity is exposed and to ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error. In the opinion of the trustees the charity is not exposed to any major risks. The results for the year are disclosed in the Statement of Financial Activities on page 4 of these accounts. Financial Review Reserves policy The fund will retain sufficient reserve5 to meet its operating commitments. year. Investment powersi policy and perforniance The trustees have the power at their discretion to vary or transpose the mode of investment of the Trust Fund within the range authorised by law for the investment of trust monies. No specific policy is followed other than to earn the market rate of return on monies invested. The year ended value of the investment portfolio is stated in the notes to these accounts. On 18th February 2021 the Trust acquired at no cost Land at Traps Hill. Loughton, Esses IGIO ISZ. The lease is for 125 years and contains 3 provsion for a pepercorn rent if demanded. The Trustees have decided not value this lease in the accounts of the Trust due to its restrictive use. Grant making policy The trust provides grants to support the leadership training of young volunteers in Redbridge. It also provides scholarships for its graduates to participate in specialist courses in Israel.
in Forest Holocaust Educational Trust ort of the Trustees ear ended 31st March 2024 for the Statement of Trustees Res onsibilities The trustees are responsible for preparing the Report of the Trustees and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards ( United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). The law applicable to charities in England and Wales, the Charities Act 2011, Charity ( Accounts and Reports) Regulation5 2008 and the provision5 of the trust deed requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charity for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to:_ (a) select suitable accounting policies and apply thern consistently (b) observe the methods and principles in the Charity SORP (c) make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent (d) prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inapprpriate to presume that the charity will continue in business The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charity (Accounts and Report5) Regulations 2008 and the provision of the trust deed. They are a150 responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. in Forest Holocaust Educational Trust Notes to the Financial Activities for the ear ended 31st March 2024 ACCOUhrriNG POLICIES Accounting convention The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. with the exception of investments, which are included at market value. as modified by the revaluation of certain assets and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities ( effective April 2008), the Charities Act 2011 and the requirements of the Statement of Recommended Practice, Accounting and Reporting by Charities. Exemption from preparing a cash flow statement Exemption has been taken from preparing a cash flow statement on the grounds that the charity qualifies as a small charity. Incoming resources All incoming resource5 are included on the Statement of Financial Attivities when the charity is legally entitled to the income and the amount can be qualified with reasonable accuracy. Resources expended Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings, they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources. Grants offered subject to conditions, which have not been met at the year end date. are noted as a commmitment but not acctued as expenditure. Investments Fixed asset investments are stated at market value. For investments where no such value is readily ascertainable. assets are stated at cost less provision for diminution in value.
