Registered Charity number: 1187907 ## **MAI FATIMA FOUNDATION ANNUAL ACCOUNTS 31 MARCH 2024** **www.maifatima.org** MAI FATIMA FOUNDATION | REGISTERED NUMBER: 1187907 ## **TRUSTEES' REPORT** The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 March 2024. ## **PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES** The charity's principal activity is the prevention or relief of poverty, or financial hardship of orphans, widows and other people in need, in Malawi and United Kingdom by providing, assisting and advising in the provision of food, housing, education and health care projects. ## **TRUSTEES** The following persons served as trustees during the year: - Safiyah Sacranie (appointed 12 February 2020) [Chair] - Arif Amir Sokwala (appointed 12 February 2020) - Mahomed Shabeer Sacranie (appointed 12 February 2020) - Hassan Shabir Abba (appointed 12 February 2020) - Fatimah Patel (appointed 17 August 2020) ## **RECRUITMENT AND APPOINTMENT OF TRUSTEES** The charity is governed by a board of trustees, apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. ## **TRUSTEE INDUCTION AND TRAINING** The charity trustees will make available to each new charity trustee, on or before his or her appointment - a copy of the current version of this constitution and a copy of the CIO's latest Trustees' Annual Report and statement of accounts. ## **RESERVES POLICY** The trustees aim to ensure that sufficient funds are maintained to enable the charity to carry out its activities. page **02** Mai Fatima Foundation MAI FATIMA FOUNDATION | REGISTERED NUMBER: 1187907 ## **RISK MANAGEMENT** The trustees have examined the major strategic, business and operational risks which the charity faces and confirm that systems have been established to enable regular reports to be produced so that the necessary steps can be taken to lessen these risks. ## **PUBLIC BENEFIT STATEMENT** The trustees have considered the general guidance on public benefit issued by the Charities Commission and have taken due regard of that guidance. The trustees consider that they are satisfied that the charity's activities do provide a public benefit. ## **RESULTS FOR THE YEAR** The charity reported a surplus of £14,287 for the period of operations.
