## Trustees' report (continued) for the year ended 31 December 2022

## **Objectives and activities**

## **The charity's objects**

To promote, for the benefit of the public, the study and support of peregrine falcons within the Wakefield district and surrounding area.

## **The charity's main activities**

The charity maintains a nest box and three live cameras on Wakefield Cathedral. Video from the cameras is streamed to the internet. A number of controlled Social media formats are used to allow supporters of the charity to interact.

The charity also arranges viewing days, when members of the public can see the peregrines and learn more about the species and the problems it faces.

## **Public benefit statement**

In setting our objectives and planning our activities our Trustees have given serious consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit and in particular on environment, conservation and heritage.

## **Achievements and performance**

Messages of appreciation continued to be received from people throughout the world, many of whom have benefited from engaging with the peregrines and other supporters of the project through the internet during the periods of isolation that Coronavirus enforced.

National and local TV and newspapers gave good coverage of the Wakefield peregrines throughout the year. Highlighting the beneficial effects of people engaging with nature and encouraging them to be involved.

The charity’s trustees have assisted a local group to establish a nest box for peregrines on a church within the Wakefield MDC area.

## **Financial review**

The net receipts for the year were £139, all relating to unrestricted funds.

## **Reserves policy**

The charity's free reserves, at the year end were £3,108.

The trustees agreed a Reserves Policy at the AGM held 3 February 2022.

a} The Lower Limit will be £2,000. This being the minimum amount considered necessary to cover the maintenance of equipment and the running costs of the Charity for 2 years.

b) The Upper Limit will be £5,000. Any amounts above this can, at the trustees discretion, be transferred to a deposit account for use on the Charity’s projects.
