BRYANSTON GROUP Riding For The Disabled

Littlebrook Farmhouse, Belchalwell Street, Dorset DT11 0EG, tel: 01258 863683

TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE PERIOD April 1st 2024 – March 31st 2025

Bryanston Group Riding for The Disabled exists to provide equestrian based therapy and activity to physically and mentally disabled adults in the Blandford Forum area of Dorset.

It is a registered and affiliated member group of the National Riding for The Disabled Association (Charity Number 1074185) and operates according to and within the guidelines and rules set by that organisation. It also benefits from the overall provision of relevant Insurance cover from the parent organisation. The Groups’ activities continue to be based at the Bryanston School Equestrian Centre in Blandford Forum, by kind permission of the Headmaster and School Trustees. The School provide access to their indoor arena and equipment as well as the use of suitable ponies when available and/or required. Sessions are held weekly on Monday mornings.

During the year to 31[st] March 2025 a full schedule of sessions and rides were held. As is normal all riders were regularly assessed and progress recorded. A total of 305 individual sessions were recorded encompassing 12 riders of varied physical and mental disability. There were no incidents of note during the period concerned requiring upward reporting. Sadly activities were reduced this year due to difficulties in sourcing suitable horses for the riders we have on our books. We continue to try to address this problem.

All volunteers completed the required DBS checks and First Aid and other requirements were maintained through formal training sessions. Where necessary formal carers were assessed and registered to allow them to give assistance in need,

Financially the Group recorded a small loss for the year, due largely to increasing costs of sourcing and transporting horses to the sessions. However with tight control over expenditure, the overall financial situation remains strong and reserves are more than adequate for the Groups operations. The Annual balance sheet is attached giving full details.
