## **TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE PERIOD MARCH 2020 – MARCH 2021** 

Bryanston Group Riding for The Disabled exists to provide equestrian based therapy and activity to physically and mentally disabled adults in the Blandford Forum area of Dorset.   It is a registered and affiliated member group of the National Riding for The Disabled Association (Charity Number 1074185) and operates according to and within the guidelines and rules set by that organisation. 

The Groups’ activities are based at the Bryanston School Equestrian Centre in Blandford Forum, by kind permission of the Headmaster and School Trustees.   The School provide access to their indoor arena and equipment as well as the use of suitable ponies when required.   Sessions are held weekly on Monday mornings. 

The Group was originally formed in 1976 and has operated continually since then but for the first time in its existence was forced to close for the whole of the period specified above due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.   All our riders classified as vulnerable through their disabilities and in addition many of our volunteers were also considered at risk due to their age groupings.   Despite the closure the Trustees and officials continued to liaise with the riders and volunteers to ensure care and support where necessary and close contact was maintained with the School Head of Equestrianism, Ms Sophie Starr.   Fund raising was stopped but a small number of transactions were needed due to Insurance and affiliation requirements.   The sole income was from the annual sale of Christmas items (See detailed accounts). 

At the time of writing the Group is now fully operational again and details will be reported in the next financial years’ return.
