Executive summary
This report covers the Charity’s opening year which sadly coincided with the first phase of the Covid 19 Pandemic.
During this period survival was the national priority. Public gatherings and face to face meetings were prohibited and the country’s way of life was hugely disrupted.
As time progressed regulatory frameworks adapted to allow online meetings. In the second half of this reporting period Trustees were permitted to hold planning meetings remotely. Face to face events and activities remained prohibited or discouraged during this period.
As was the case with many new charities it was not possible to make progress on previously envisaged activities. Traditional “face to face” or audience-based formats such as our open mics, seminar and workshop activities have had to be put on hold.
Toward the end of the period we began to plan online public activities (such as open mic held on zoom) for the next reporting period.
In this period the Trustees focussed on the necessary groundwork for a robust charitable organisation going forward. We have been actively working on a three year development plan which will be published in the next reporting period and we look forward to a bright future.

Governance
Poetry Whitchurch was established on 04 February 2020 and this report covers to period from this date to 03 February 2021.
As set out in the executive summary our opening year coincided with the advent of Covid 19 which severely limited what the organisation was able to progress.
Trustees
The following Trustees were in place at the charity’s inception and remained in post throughout the reporting period:
Simon Hamlyn Therese Hickland Scott Radford Harvey Vasey (Chair)
No further Trustees, members, staff members or volunteers were in place during this period. Discussions took place with a view to bolstering our initial Trustee board and the first additional trustee joined shortly after the reporting period.
Trustee meetings
Trustee meetings were held remotely when Government and Charity Commission guidelines advised that it was lawful to do so.
Activities, objectives and performance for the year
Due to Covid 19 online Trustee meetings were held but no public activities were possible during this reporting period. A three year plan to be published in the next reporting period will set out our performance indicators that will be reviewed continually and reported upon annually.
Public benefit
Due to Covid 19 activities were severely limited by Government regulations. The year has been used to plan for the future.
