LEGAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE DETAILS

The Cornpany is constiluted as a charitable company limited by guarantee, not having
a share capital and is governed by Memorandum and Articles of Association. After the
financial period ￿Vered by this report the Companys Objects were revised. as below.
Membership
Membership is open to interested individuals interested in promoting the Objects of the
Charity and ac￿pted into membership by the Trustees.
TrusteeslDlrectors
The COmpan￿S day-to4ay work is delegated by the members. to a Board of Directors
- who are also the charitys Trustees, who are elected by. and report to, an Annual
General Meeting [AGM], that re￿iVeS an Annual Report and the Financial Statements
[Accounts] of the organisation.
One third of the DirectOrsrrn￿eeS sland down at each AGM. in rolation. by length of
setvice, but are eligible for re-electi￿. The Trustees meet as required to manage the
business of the Company.
Between AGMS ttie Tfustees are responsible for overseeing the running of the
Company - govemed by both Company and Charity lawlregulalions - and for obtaining
funding, running projects and allocating r&wurces. Collectivety, they are responsible
for the overall management of the operations of the Companylcharity.
Havin9 reached the income and expenditure level required in the prevTrous financial
year, for charitable registralion, the cx)mpany successlully applied for charitable stalus.

We developed programrnes promoting social inclusion, reducing ￿alth inequalities
and women's empowemient thorough the provision of: creative education, multi
sports, health & wellbeing. also supporting people with training opportunities to
increase their employable skills. We experienced continued demand for our services,
and were able to meet the demands by extending our netth of partnerships with
schools and community groups across the Liverpool City and increasing the numbers
of volunleers and sessional facilitstors involved in delivering project activities.
We were able to support over 350 individual beneficiaries in this financial year. We
continued supporting children and young people eligible for free school meals, SEN,
refugeelasylum. and those are vulnerable or at risk. HAF delNery indudes
outdoor and indoor enrichment. sport and healthy eating activities to encourage
children to maintain aclive and healthy lifestyles and through participation, develop
teamwork, communication skills and confidence to improve overall wellbeing.
The young people attendir¥J our services rely on the food prowsions we offer during
school holidays, as the cost-of4Mng crisis continues to impact standards of living and
affordability of essents'als including fuel and food. Our school based Growing
Community Roots gardening project at St. Vincent De Paul RC primary school had a
wider impact on the local community, and afterschool club, establishing sustainable
herb and wildflower garden for the whole sctrm￿l to use.
Our women's empowerment workshops gave opportunities for migrant women to gain
financial independence to improve IT. digital and numeracy skills, CV wfbting and
personal statements. prnctical experience with volunteering and support to progress to
adult education and vocational training. We also provided women who often struggled
with language barriers help to access a range of support seNices such as health, debt
managemenc food pantries arKI housing concems.
Sessional support staff and volunteers have brought an array of valuable skills and
expertise. and we expanded our ability to provide a diverse range of tailored activities,"
project staff & volunteers worked collaborativety with exlemal agencies to help children
and young people with SEN needs had these met. A Wednesdays Women's coffee
moming at Toxleth Library. to reduce isolation and stay connected. led by volunteers,
met over coffee. arKI helped improve their literacy and digital skills. We developed
family learning acts'vities in partnership with Alder Hey NHS to deliver the Public Health
Healthy Weight Prograrnme and to infiuence posilive eating behaviours and help
reduce childhood obesity. Families were also encouraged to keep active with famity
foolbam, hula hoops and swimming and workshop focusing on nutrition. portion size.

The work we do ￿ds achieved via support from MerseyEide Play Action Council
LiveTpooI City Council and Liverpool Cty Region. Comrnunity gardening project:
Communty Foundation Merseyside and LCVS to help those socially excluded.
We will continue to develop current work to widen children and young people's
experiences organising arts, ojlture. IT. sport. education. and improve opportunities
for community-based leaming for w￿rnen. to enable posilive lrfe choices and changes,
develop their confKlence to retum to work.
Capaclty buildingltraining
Training focused on Disability awareness training programmes i.e. Autism Awareness,
ASD, ACE and First Contact with Clients. Other training induded supporting
volunteers, The Good Food Standards and Good Food for the Holidays, Level 2 food
hygiene. risk assessments, safeguarding chiklren and vulnerable adults. first aid,
health and safety. prevent and IT courses were completed throughout the financial
year, keeping up to date wtlh the diverse needs of Servi￿ users.
New Initiatives
We will develop more visible engagement activities and opportunlh'es to promote our
work at events. community markets, media appearances. and work with our netvrfork of
support organisations and (x)mmunty businesses. Offer young people practical
workshops to enable them to be more aware of employment and training opportunities
available in the area: to have a better understanding about job applications and how to
fill them. helping them through their interview process: helping to develop soft skills
and Conf￿enCe building. We aim to introduce STEM skills to young people in a
creative learning lo develop environment awareness. growing food activities and
recycling and upcycling workshops arKI beekeeping projects to protect the natural
environmenl and increase b￿dIVersity in urt)an landscapes.
Consultation, beneficiaries and feedthck
We held regular consultations with stakeholders gathering feedback to ensure that our
services align with beneficiaries, needs. These were carried out at beginning, midterm
and end of session reviews to evalLbate delivery impact on beneficiaries and wider
community, identify additional needs. and insights of support priorities required by
service users to feed into developing and improving our serrfices. During the year, we
contlnued delivery of HAF Children & Young people's holiday activities meeting the
growing demand among beneficiaries. The Healthy Weight family programme tackling
childhood obesity" community gardening food project. IT. digttal and Multiply numeracy
training enterpriselemployability programmes including ESOL. cooking classes and
improving literacy were influen￿d by the challenges facing families due to the cost-of-
living crisis & the negative impact on families we work are experiencing. Underpinned
by gathering information through consulting with our beneficiaries, ACE'S funding
strategy will focus <)n capacity building staff and growing our volunteers network and
resources strengthen our ability to ￿ntInue to deliver these o)re services we offer.

AUDIT EXEMPTION STATEMENT
Fof the year ending 30th September 2023, the company was entitled to exemption
from audit under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.
The members have not required the company to obtsin an audit of tts accounts for the
year in question in accordance with section 476.
The directors atknledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of
the Act with respect to aC￿Unting ￿CordS and the preparation of accounts. These
accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applbcable to
companies subject to the small companies. regime.
RESULTS FOR THE YEAR
The rasults for the year are set out on the finance pages following this report.
RESERVES
The balances at 30th September 2023 amounted to £10.082. tsking into account the
value of fixed assets in use [which were for practical purposes have been vKitten doth
lo zero] by the company.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
During the year increased funding vras received from a range of sources. as in the
Projects report. and shown below in the Grants received section. Income for the year
increased to £105,418 [2022 £80,981] and Expenditure increased to £112,144 [2022
£67,588].
THE FUTURE
The HAF progrdmme ￿rrentty supports 150 chlldren weekly with activities. Mth more
trained support Workers, we will be able lo offer more children with additional support
needs to use our services. We have hearth champions as volunteers and sessional
practitioners who live localty and are known for their service and act as role models,
provide valuable lived experien￿ and transferab5e skills that enhance the quality of
project engagernenl.
We Mdll confjnue to support the delivery of Healthy Welght and HAF programmes to
improve the health and social oUt￿meS of disadvantaged children arKI young people
living in Toxteth. the 5th most deprived area nationally. Additionally. increasing digital
literacy is important to keep women and girfs safe online. We wll develop prograrns to
improve intemet safety. and risks of online scarns or attacks and support participants
to improve their everyday use of maths through Multiply projects to be able to monitor
their children's intemet use help wilh their thildren's malh's homework.

The charitys trustees are responsible for the preparation of accounts. The charitys
trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 43{2) of the
Charities Act 1993 (the Act)) and that an irKlependent examination is needed.
