TRUSTEES’ REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 APRIL 2022
The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 30 April 2021.
Structure, governance and management
The charity was established under its constitution on 3 February 2020 and registered as a charity with the Charity Commission on that date.
The trustees who served during the year were:

The appointment of trustees is set out in the Constitution.
The recruitment of new trustees is periodically undertaken by the Board, which follows an open and fair recruitment process taking due account of both the skills and needs of the charity and the desire for its membership to reflect the diversity of the local population.
The Charity and its assets are managed and administered by a board of trustees.
The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.
Objectives and activities
The charity’s objects are to provide community based football for girls and boys, male and female adults and disabled persons.
The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the charity should undertake.

Achievements and performance
2021/22 has been a season where the Club, more than ever, has benefitted from the previous 11 years of being built on solid foundations. The dedication and professionalism of Trustees, Committee and Coaches since the club formed meant the Club was able to exit the enforced Covid lockdown practically unscathed. We were able to regroup during the summer of 2021 and prepare for the new season as normal.
In a season where the Football Association changed it accreditation process Cramlington United, due to their high standards, automatically transferred from being a Charter Standard Community Club, to an England Football 3 Star Accredited Club. In essence this is due to the range of teams the club now has. A full player pathway for boys with the chance to move into 2 adult teams. A full player pathway for girls with the chance to move into the Ladies team. Plus 4 adult disability squads which have now been joined by the new teenage disability squad. Outside of the 54 main teams the club has playing throughout the region there are also recreational sessions for girls, boys, ladies, walking football and over 40’s. But it’s not just the range of teams that gave the club it’s 3-star rating. It’s the fact that all paperwork and qualifications are meticulously kept in date and to a high standard. It’s the complete package.
As a football club CUFC will always be looking to make improvements. To tweak what is already in place and offer football-based activities to as many people as possible. This last season has also seen the Club utilise its strength and experience for the benefit of the wider Cramlington community to great effect. The Club continue to work closely with the Cramlington Foodbank and during the year there were 2 collections for food and 1 for school uniform with the CUFC family coming together to help those in need. Our work with the Cramlington School Sports Partnership goes from strength-to-strength each year. We have coaches taking training sessions and even running teams in 7 of the Cramlington primary schools culminating in summer tournament hosted by the Club which was a fantastic event for all the young players. A new campaign for this season was a fundraiser to provide additional defibrillators not only at the club, but throughout the town where they would benefit the public. Amazingly the club has placed 3 defibrillators, including security cabinets, at 3 sites throughout the town. These 3 defibs have been added to a national database and are available for the public to use in an emergency. A further 2 defibs are available for the club teams to use.
So, once again a fantastic season for the club and everyone to be proud of.
As we head into a new season probably the only thing missing is a place to call home. A site that will make Cramlington United complete.

Financial review
The receipts and payments account on page 5 show a deficit of receipts to payments, before transfers between funds, of £535 for the year ended 30 April 2022 in respect of unrestricted funds

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT
TO THE TRUSTEES OF CRAMLINGTON UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 30 April 2022 which are set out on pages 4 to 6.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not require for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
(i) examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
(ii) to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
(iii) to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(a) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
(i) to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
(ii) to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
-
have not been met; or
-
(b) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

1. Restricted funds
There were no restricted funds during the year.
2. Contingent liability
There is a public liability claim against the charity which at this stage cannot be quantified.
3. Trustees
None of the trustees (or any persons connected with them) received any remuneration during the year, and none of the trustees were reimbursed any expenses.
