## **Review of year 2020**
The band registered as a CIO on 30[th] January 2020. Prior to the registration, the band were performing under the name Formby Band. The band continues to perform under this name for the time being whilst the committee works to update the branding of the band in line with the name of the charity (Liverpool Brass Band (Formby)).
At the point of registration as a CIO, the band were preparing for the annual North West Brass Band Championships. This competition gives the band the opportunity to compete alongside bands of a similar standard with the winner gaining the chance to compete at the National competition later in the year. The piece of music chosen for this competition tests the band in many ways, helping to push the development of the players both as individual players and playing within a band setting. In February 2020, the band finished 8[th] .
After the competition, the band met up for one further rehearsal before the Covid-19 pandemic forced the postponement of rehearsals for the rest of the year. The band has met online for social activities and to keep in touch with each other, but there has not been the opportunity to do any playing/performing together.
The band’s committee made the decision to follow the advice and guidance provided by Brass Bands England to help decide when a return to rehearsals will commence and how this can happen.
