Lighthouse Shelswell was regtstered as a foundation CIO on 29 January 2020. charity number 1187651.The members of the
charity are its trustees and membership cannot be transferred to anyone else. Therefore, onty the trustees are able to vote on
any matter relating to the charity.
Appointment of trustees
As set out in the CIO Foundation DocurnenL trustee5 are appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meetlng of
the charity trustees. The chair of trustees is nominated by the trustees and may at any point revoke such appointment. When
considering the appointment of trustees, the board has regard to the requirement for any specialist ski115 needed for the
éffective administration of rhe charity.
Trustee Indurtion
As a small charity new trustees are well aware of our objectives and the work we undertake. As such, the inductton of new
trustee5 is minimal. New trustees receive a copy of the current version of the Foundation Document. a copy of the most recent
rrustees. Annual Report and statement of accounts. and the Charity Commission's'charity Trustee Welcome Pack, and'The

Organisation
The boaid of trustees, which can have up io eighi members. admsnister5 the charity, with responsibilities for diflerent areas. The
board meets ai least three times a year. in accordance wilh the Foundation Document.
A manaEement committee. rnember5 of which are approved by the trustees at an annual meetin& is appointed by the trustees
to manage the organisation of the Lighthouse Shelswell event.
All trustees, and members of committees. give th￿r time voluntsrity and rece¢¥ed no benefits from the tharity.

Lighthouse Shelswell has been set up to=
promote the Christian faith primarily in children and young people by initiating and 5UPPOrting the organisation of non-
residential Christian holiday club5. which are free of charge with all costs met from voluntary donation5. fundraising
events, grants and Sponsorship.
To do this in conjunrtion wth Christian churches in their locality through the work of all denominations wishbng to
participate.

In shaping our objectives for the year and planning our 3cti¥itie5. the tiustees have considered the Charity Comffli5si9n's
guidance on public benefit. includingthe gUidan￿'pub1iC benefit= running a tharity IPB21'.
Lighthtsuse Shelswell provides a free children's holiday club which 15 open to all irrespective of beliefs. It provide5 a great week
of activitie5 and teaching and strengthens relationships in the community with several churches workin8 together.
Public benefit to children znd young people
Our activities benefit children and young people by telling theffl about rnainstream Christianity ecumentcally. not from the
perspettive of a single denomination.. and providing them with a safe. fun emiironment for activities such a5 uaft, 5POrt. drama
and games. It also gives them an experience of bwng in a Christian environment.
Public benefit to their parents
Our activities provide Safe. well rLsn Christ13n events. which 3re open io children of all faiths and none.
These facilstle5 are provided free of charge.
Publlc beneflt to teenagers
Our activities allow teenagers to develop their carin8 skills for youn8er children under the supervision of adults. allowin8 them
to gain experience. and through helping to faulitate Christian teachin& they are able to further their understanding of
Christtanity.
Sertion 3.. AchievemÈnts & Perfomiance
Chairman's Report for 2025
The Lighthouse Trustees met fovr times wa Zoom, together with others invofved in the management committee, in the
months leading up to the holiday week. In addition. everyone atiended a volunteers trainin8 se55$0n held on Sunday
16, July 2025 and iwo represenrattves met with the head of Finmere school for an orientation session on 13th Jyly.
We were delighted when Mlchael Green took on the administration for ￿ghthoUse Shelswell.
Lighthouse Shelswell was hdd from Monday 28" July- Friday I" August 2025 at FinmÈre Church of England Primary
School.
The event was attended by 62 children in all.. stxteen 5 year olds. frfteeTr 6- 7 year olds. Sixteen 7-8 year olds and
fifteen 9- 10 plus year old5.
The week wa5 planned and facilitated by an excellent team of volunteers, 14 adults and 14 teenagers. We were
pleased to welcome some new volunteers onto the team. induding two from the Cherwell Benefice who were
exploring ihe possibility of esiablishin8 Li8hthovse in their Benefice.
Everyone met togelher for Main Stage at the start and finish of ihe day_ Otherwise activities were offered within the
four age groups.
We largely follow the strurture offered by Ughthou5e Cèntral. which seemed io work well. The material provided by
Lighthouse CentTal for'make Space for Jesus. was agreed to be excellent.
Informal feedback from the week was very positive. most children and volunteecs saying that they would want to come
again the following year.
9. Once again. children who had just finishe(l year 6 were invited to be firefiies. They helped out with some activities with
the younger childien.
10. Thi5 year. for the first time. in addition to USI￿ videos of the Li8hthouse 50ngs, we had live music on a few occasions,
compfisin8 piano and dectric 8Ultar.
11. Next year's Lighthouse will run from Monday 2W to Frtday 31" AuKu5t 2026.

The Trustees thanked the outgoing Chair. the Revd Alice Goodall, for starting this event in Shelswell and running it for five years
yp to her retirement as Rector of the Shelswell Benefice. Her dedication, skills, and the impatt of her leadership on the
organisat50n's mission. while providing gusdance and making tough decisions. wa5 instrumental in helping the charity to achieve
it5 goals. We are grateful for her commitment and willingness to gwe so much of her time. She has worked tirelessly to ensure
that the children and volunteer5 taking part thorou8hty enjoyed the experience. She will be 8reatly missed.
