## **Objectives and Activities**

appreciation of, Iranian/Persian culture, language, history, music,
poetry, film and theatre, etc., by:

and research accessible to the general public

accounts.|During 2024 we have organised a variety of events and
workshops on Persian poetry, literature, novel, music, film and
culture including:
1- The 15thAnnual Poetry Prize for young (under the age of 30)
Persian Poets, with origins from Afghanistan, Iran and Tajikistan
and the diaspora as well as Persian poets from other countries,
was held. Over 130 took part, 17 were short listed and
recognised. Cash prizes were given to five young poets who
recited their poems at the Festival’s Final event on Sunday 8th
December 2024 at SOAS University of London with over 250
participants.
2- Organised 10 monthly poetry in-person workshops, for the
benefit of Persian Speaking people in the UK and online on
Facebook, by well-known poets from Afghanistan, Iran and
Tajikistan. More than 1000 attended in person and live online
many thousands viewed the videos online after the events.
4- Eight in person and Online talks and discussions and critics on
recent novels and literary works were held online with more than
2000 people attending live and hundreds more viewing the
proceedings of each event after the events.
5- 10 Workshops on Story Reading and creative writing of short
stories, were held each with average number of 14 participants
each, benefiting mainly young people.
6- Two tribute events held for pioneering Novelists and poets.|

whole.|In line with our objectives (i), (ii) and (iii) our work benefited the
Persian Speaking people, in particular young people, engaging
with their mother tongue culture in England. It is estimated that
more than 9000 people have benefited by taking part in our
events and many more viewing the material online after the
events.|
