Trustees' annual report for the period

Period end date 31-12-2022

Charity name ACTA Charity No. 1187587

Objectives and Activities

Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document

The objects of the CIO are to advance, develop and foster a full understanding of the Roman Catholic faith by:

3.1 Encouraging the discovery of and sharing of people’s skills and opportunities to serve both within the Roman Catholic Church as an enriched community, and more generally for good works in the wider community.

within and outside the Roman Catholic faith.

3.3 Promoting dialogue within the structures of the Roman Catholic Church as a means of sharing spiritual insights, identifying common areas of concern, promoting good practice and providing examples of service within the Roman Catholic Church and the wider communities it

serves.

Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. Statement confirming whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

ACTA- A Call to Action has spent the last few months in assessing its purpose in the light of the call to synodality by Pope Francis. ACTA was established in order to encourage dialogue between the constituent parts of the Church. The development of a synodal process was an opportunity to encourage such dialogue. As this process has continued, ACTA has re-focused its work towards helping to encourage participation. There is a need for ACTA to bring to the general public the implications of this process.

A series of meeting in mid and late 2022 gave members an opportunity to address these issues.

The Catholic Church published new guidelines on the nature of the parish in July 2020, through the Council for the Clergy. The pandemic offered a challenge to a view of “parish” as being geographic and spatial in an age when the technology helped people to link irrespective of space or time. This was the subject of our National Conference in October 2022 with Dr Phyllis Zagano as our guest speaker
