Meals are provided on<br>a free/pay what you can basis.<br>Opening of HCK involved liaison with<br>Barnsley Council who provided information<br>and supportive documentation for following<br>good food hygiene. HCK registered as a<br>Food Business Establishment and during<br>the year had a food safety inspection<br>where they were awarded a 5 rating. The<br>volunteers supporting this work also<br>completed safeguarding training and food<br>hygiene training as required.<br>During the year there were some DIY days<br>where church members joined together<br>voluntarily for DIY, cleaning, decorating and<br>gardening jobs.<br>The church also held a Christmas Wreath<br>Making event which was attended by|

## **Financial Review** 

|Review of the charity’s<br>financial position at the<br>end of the period.|Para 1.21||The charity allocated some of its funds to the new<br>initiative of Hill Country Kitchen (HCK) which<br>started in October 2023; including continued<br>development of the kitchen area.<br>**The total income of the COI - listed as**<br>**receipts - £29123**<br>**Receipts (Income)**<br>**Donations**- The majority of this is regular<br>giving by church members. Over this<br>period the average monthly giving was<br>around £1690 some months were less<br>and others more. This is slightly less<br>than the previous year.<br>There were some one off donations too,<br>including £600 from the Penistone<br>branch of the Royal British Legion - a<br>gift made towards the work of HCK<br>This category also includes cash<br>donations to HCK, £883 and the toddler<br>group - £374- detailed later in the report.<br>**Fundraising**- This money was raised<br>from the sale of items by<br>church members with money raised<br>being donated to the charity.<br>.<br>**Room hire**- The charity typically charges<br>£10 an hour for use of its premises. The<br>bulk of this money is from a new client,<br>Sharon Stacey Music. Sharon holds<br>singing lessons in the sanctuary which<br>started in April and this raised £365. The<br>church was used as a Polling Station in<br>the 2024 General and local<br>elections, £160. The premises were also<br>used during Penistone Arts Week, £40<br>and a private party, £40<br>**Refunds**- £251 from EDF Energy. And<br>also duplicated payments, Lebara<br>(wireless internet), £7 and Christian<br>Safeguarding Services, £120<br>**Gift Aid**- a claim relating to historical<br>donations (up to Jan 2022) was made<br>and received - £5288<br>**Payments- costs incurred**<br>The total expenditure was £21513.|

 **Cost of Charitable Activity -** This section includes the cost of items purchased in requirement of what we do. The actual total is £1993.55. Examples include (to nearest £1) Food and other consumables for HCK - £1247 Training for volunteers,  Ground Level Leaders conference (April 2024)  and Safeguarding training - £366 Consumables for Toddler Group - £194 Miscellaneous items, such as glow sticks and oranges for Christingle service, materials for wreath making event and furniture for toddler group - £186  The **mortgage** cost for this period is listed - £4333. This is more than the previous period due to the interest rate rises. The monthly cost rose from £354 at the start of the period to £363 in October 2023.  **Lighting, Power and Heat -** Our Annual utility costs. Electricity: £778 Gas: £575 Wireless Internet: £69  **Cleaning Materials and Domestic Items** Is larger than the previous period. Expenditures outside 'everyday' cleaning materials include Items required for HCK such as aprons, crockery, utensils, bins, microwave, signs, £1011 Mugs (with lids) for toddlers group - £58  The cost of **building maintenance/improvement** , though still substantial, was less than the previous year. Equipment for kitchen, including hob, stainless steel worktop covers etc.: £839 Electrical work,, including PAT testing, purchase and installation of hall lights and other minor works £2730 DIY materials - for hall face-lift on church work day (13th April and 27[th] April 2024) and professional stripping of internal doors: £248 Materials purchased for the improvement car park/garden: £645 Roof repairs: £1050 New external signs: £3726  **Safety and Security** is our cost in relation to burglar alarm and fire extinguisher service, £872. This also

We made two donations in<br>this period<br>Adopt a Child - following their leading a<br>Sunday Service, £200<br>M and J. Stead - for advice and services<br>relating to a previous financial year<br>checking.  £150<br>The toddler group started this financial year with a<br>cash float of £97.15. Attendees make voluntary<br>cash donations and the total received was £374<br>The amount of this cash spent on consumables<br>and other items (e.g craft, books etc.) £194.17<br>(shown as £194 above), so an increase in their<br>funds of £178.83<br>This leaves an excess cash float of £276.98-<br>which is held by the toddler group staff. **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act . 

under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

**Independent** I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have **examiner's statement** come to my attention (other than that disclosed below *) in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
