The obj¢d5 of the CIO are for the publi¢ benefit of children across ihe United Kingdom and the rest of the world. In
partirular:

or for outpatients at home as the trU￿etS shall detennine at their absolute discretion.
To Provide relief from sickness through the suppiyl of treatm¢nL tiJining and Tesearch fr￿ the public benefit of

Such other charitible purposes for the relief of sickness. whether or not connethd with hospitals. &8 the trustees
shall detennine at thcir obsolut¢ dis¢retion.
Significant Aetlvities
The CIO provided £1.624 clwitable benefrts during the year. This was in the forni of a donalion to Global Club(oot.
It expects to continue with such expenditure as its main activity in subwuent years.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charilable activities
Our main f￿uS continues io ￿ The Beam Campaign. which aims to ensure that intravenous (IV) *¢ess is a more
effici¢nt and less intimidating procedure for young p3tieDts artd thrir famtlies. The campaign aims to purchase a mobile
ultrasound vein finder for the ?6 paediatric Surgical wards in the UK. as well as a rrainin8 and inforniation programme.

The assets of the CIO are invested in a professionally managed divetse investment ￿tfOlIO. This is d¢5]￿ed to achieve
long-tern) growth in Gapital and inc¢)me so &% to fimd charitabk expendityre in the forni of grants. The CIO
employs Brook5 m￿Donald &8 iDve5tment managers for this F￿f01￿.
Reserves PDIicy
'The trusiees activ¢ly build up sU￿1￿$¢S within the 8eneral fiuKI from which to pay the day io day expenses of the
charity. This is 5UPIM)rted wherever [K￿lble by ap￿a]s. The tnhstees endeavour ￿ maintain a minimum of one y¢arfs
