## **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document**

The purposes of this club shall be: (a) To create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world. (b) To promote the principles of good government and good citizenship. (c) To take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community. (d) To unite the members in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding. (e) To provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members. (f) To encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavours.

## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**

- **(2)** Donations were made during the year and are listed in the Independent Examiner’s Report submitted

- **(3)** The club agreed to support the fundraising work of a local woman who had been diagnosed with stage four terminal cancer by acting as the administrator and providing the financial accountability and banking services. ‘Chrissie’s Sunshine Appeal’ which commenced during April The fundraising activities continue whilst these were slowed by the various lockdowns and restrictions.

The club members will take the following into consideration in determining whether a grant or donation will be made: (a) the extent of the need of the individual or organisation requesting; (b) if a request is for a specific piece of equipment to be funded, are other sources of funding available (either as donations or from a statutory agency); (c) if the request is from another charity or good cause, to what extent are

## Section D Achievements and performance

During the course of the year membership of the club started at **Summary of the main** 25 and ended at 25 volunteers. The main activities are shown at **achievements of the** Section C above. The main achievements were maintaining the **charity during the year** high profile of the club within the local community and organising events which both served the community and raised funds for good causes. The Beer Festival which has been such a significant success was not able to be held in 2020 and neither was the community lunch which also provides support and friendship for members of the community who might not otherwise have the opportunity to socialise approaching Christmas. Both of these signature activities were set to return in 2021. Requests for grants were able to be met from funds raised where it was agreed to offer assistance and the club administration fund (not collected from the public – only internal) remained in good standing.
