NEW TRICKS ANNUAL REPORT  2021-2022 

For the remainder of the 2020-2021 academic year it continued to be impossible to go into schools due to Covid restrictions. As these restrictions began to be lifted in September 2021, we were able to start running bridge clubs at those schools where we had established contacts prior to the Covid shutdown, namely Brookfield (Camden), Coldfall (Haringey) and Rickmansworth Park, Hertfordshire. 

We started as an after school club at Coldfall, with a small number of children from Year 5 and Year 6. During the Autumn term at Brookfield and Rickmansworth Park we introduced whole year groups (60 Year 5 children at Brookfield and 30 Year 3  children at Rickmansworth Park) to bridge over a six week course, after which they were given the opportunity to join an after school/ lunchtime club in the second half of term. We had good sign-up rates, with 12 children from Brookfield and all 30 from Rickmansworth Park choosing to carry on learning as part of the club. 

Holy Trinity & St Silas School in Camden joined the programme in January 2022, with Year 5 having a six week course during which half of the class attended on alternate weeks. We then set up an after school club on a sign-up basis and 12 children joined that. 

We held a training day for volunteers in March 2022.  Also in March, we engaged the services of Smart PA, a provider of administrative support on a month-by-month basis, in order to get all of our administrative systems established.
