The Barnham Broom and Upper Yare Benefice Charity CIO, Charity number 1187422 was incorporated at the beginning of 2020. This is its first annual report.

  1. The purposes of the charity are:- TO RELIEVE FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, EITHER GENERALLY OR INDIVIDUALLY PERSONS RESIDENT, CHILDREN ATTENDING A SCHOOL WITHIN THE GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARY OF THE CHARITY BUT NOT RESIDENT, FULL-TIME WORKERS WHOSE PLACE OF WORK IS WITHIN THE GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARY BUT NOT RESIDENT, WITHIN THE GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES OF THE ECCLESIASTICAL BENEFICE OF THE BARNHAM BROOM AND UPPER YARE BENEFICE IN THE DIOCESE OF NORWICH (CHURCH OF ENGLAND), WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS, WHETHER THROUGH LACK OF RESOURCE OR MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DISTRESS OR ILLNESS, BY MAKING GRANTS OF MONEY OR PROVIDING OR PAYING FOR ITEMS, SERVICES OR FACILITIES CALCULATED TO REDUCE THE NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS OF SUCH PERSONS.

  2. Any charity within the geographical boundaries set out above may be a member of this charity. The primary purpose of this pt.2 is to enable Fuel Allotment charities, those set-up following the late 17th and early 18th century Inclosure Acts, to influence decisions concerning (though not vote on them) and to contribute funds towards, those qualifying under pt 1 above. Trustees retain the right and responsibility to vote for awarding of grants.

  3. 1187422 primarily acts as a conduit for the dissemination of funds from other charitable bodies, where the local contacts that the trustees of 1187422 have, enable more specific targeting towards those in need.

  4. Following the incorporation of this charity it took several months - there being a pandemic in progress - for the bank account to be established. Once this was achieved, charities which had previously pledged support were again approached and made small initial donations to 1187422 in order to provide a track record to said donors, of the efficacy of 1187422. The Anne French Memorial Trust and the Hardingham Fuel Allotment Charity made such donations totalling £650.

  5. Full operations of the charity only became possible following the formal end of the pandemic lockdown. (Whilst all donations occurred after the end of March 2021, over half of the money given in donations has of the date of this report, been donated. These will be reported on next financial year and annual report).

  6. There was only a single formal minuted meeting of trustees during the period although many informal contacts as we sought to establish the bank account.

  7. The only bank transactions to report are donations received as detailed in pt 4 above, and this is the extent of the accounts.

  8. The future is looking positive for the charity as further indications of donations have been received. Member charities will be approached for input into decision making.
