TRUSTEES REPORT
The world has witnessed a year unlike the many years that we have witnessed in our life span. The Year of COVID-19 pandemic, face masks, social distancing, crippled economies, loss of businesses, loss of revenue, people making desperate choices just to survive.
First year of NIDA Community Services UK (NIDA) could not have come at a more vital time like this both for beneficiaries in the UK and in Sri Lanka. We, NIDA have teamed up with Harrow local council and other local charities to provide food parcel relief for many of the underprivileged individuals and families in Harrow and the surrounding areas. We have distributed weekly in average of 50-75 food parcels for individual households worth over £20000.00. Due to extreme demand from the locality and we decided to open up a local foodbank in the Harrow after consultation with local charities and the council.
Situation in Sri Lanka remains worse than that of UK financially for the lower income earners. NIDA has successfully helped 751 families with food parcels lasting for a month during the hardest hit month of April 2020. NIDA services together with Ummah Welfare Trust UK and All Ceylon Jamiyathul Ulama Sri Lanka (ACJU) have also helped with the payment of salaries of low-income teachers and other parallel project to help 50 Orphans.
NIDA has also helped build 2 houses in Sri Lanka for 2 low-income families at the cost of £3000.00 each. The times for the people around the world have been really challenging and our communities around the world need our help more than ever. Prophet Muhammed PBUH has said the “charity does not decrease wealth”. I hope and pray that Allah almighty accepts all our efforts in helping the humanity and also pray that Allah almighty ease the suffering of the people around the globe. Aameen!

ACCOUNTANTS REPORT
I report on the accounts of the organisation for the period to 31 July 2020 set out on pages 4-5 which have been prepared on the basis of the accounting policies on pages 6-7.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The trustees of the organisation are responsible for the preparation of accounts; they consider that the audit requirement under section 144 of the 2011 Act, does not apply. It is my responsibility to:
- Examine the accounts under Section 145 of 2011 Act.
• Follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners made under Section 145 (5) (b) of the 2011 Act.
- State whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes review of the accounting records kept by the organisation and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accountants.
Independent examiner’s statement
Based on my examination, no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect, accounting records have not been kept in accordance with Section 130 of 2011 Act, or that the accounts presented do not accord with those records, or comply with the accounting requirement of the 2011 Act. No matter has come to my attention in connection with my examination to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
