SSTP was incorporated in January 2020.

As the pandemic overtook everything, we took the opportunity of developing the group internally, as well as maintaining contact with Trustees, digitally. And developing promotional information, and social media channels, to take the group forward.

SSTP has not been able to fundraise on it’s own behalf, and we have been supported by People First ((Self Advocacy), the national self-advocacy organisation.

We are now in the process of setting up our own bank account and have developed fundraising plans to take forward selfadvocacy work in Portsmouth.

activities undertaken for
the public beneft in

To promote and facilitate Self Advocacy for people with Learning
Disabilities, Learning Difculties and autism in the Portsmouth
area.
To facilitate group social activities for the aforementioned
people.
Through engagement, education, and consultation We will work
with companies and services to understand and promote the
needs of people with learning disabilities, difculties and
Autism.
Because of lockdown it has been very difcult to drive forward
the plans of the group in terms of expanding the membership
and supporting the wider group of people with learning
difculties, disabilities and autism in Portsmouth to become
stronger self-advocates.
We have focussed on working with Trustees in terms of

strengthening their governance skills

supporting further development of their self-advocacy
skills, and

putting in place development and business plans for the
future.
We have also taken forward work to expand the membership of
SSTP, as a channel and means to supporting the development of
self-advocacy skills.
The Trustees confrm that in carrying out the charity’s work for
the public beneft they have had regard to the Charity
Commission’s public beneft guidance.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Due to us being awarded charity status shortly before restrictions were set in place in March 2020 we have not been able to operate as we did before. We focused on training key trustees in using technology in order to communicate and hold meetings.

We developed a website in order for us to be able to operate and promote the charity encouraging new membership and to enable our members to engage remotely. We developed a new leaflet promoting the charity and encouraging new membership.

We developed an online presence with social media accounts.
