## **Assistance Dog Council (ADC)** 

## **Annual Report 2023-2024** 

## **Chairperson’s Introduction** 

Over this last year, although work has been slow, we have been able to still bring the community a little closer together. We have started working closer with other charities and have brought in a new trustee to help oversee our operations. Whilst the work has been slow, we have started working on a custom-made portal that will help bring all our case work, and membership queries into one place. 

## **Mission and Objectives** 

- **Mission Statement** : _“To bring Equality to ALL Assistance Dog Users throughout the UK.”_ 

- **Objectives** : 

   1. Provide advice and support to assistance dog handlers through publications and volunteers. 

   2. Liaise between service providers and handlers during disputes. 

   3. Educate service providers on their responsibilities regarding assistance dogs. 

   4. Conduct checks to confirm compliance with the Equality Act 2010. 

   5. Educate handlers on animal welfare. 

## **Achievements and Activities** 

## **Key Highlights:** 

- **Support Services** : Provided advice and publications to over 75 assistance dog handlers. 

- **Education and Outreach** : Although no training programs have been delivered over the past 

- year, we have aided 23 businesses with adjusting their policies in line with the Equality Act 2010. 

- **Dispute Resolution** : Assisted 25 handlers in resolving service access disputes. 

- **Community Engagement** : Expanded our online presence, reaching an audience of 

- approximately 4,000.

## **Governance and Structure** 

- The ADC operates as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). 

- Trustees oversee strategic planning and governance, ensuring compliance with the Charities 

- Act 2011. 

- Virtual and in-person meetings have been held regularly to align activities with our objectives. 

## **Future Plans** 

- Expand educational programs for assistance dog handlers and service providers. 

- Strengthen fundraising initiatives to cover operational costs and support new projects. 

- Improve IT systems for more effective service delivery, and to enable more features to be 

- delivered to our beneficiaries.
