## **Assistance Dog Council (ADC)**

## **Annual Report 2022-2023**

## **Chairperson’s Introduction**

This year has been very different to previous years due to a change in executive office. However, even through this change, we have been able to provide services to all our beneficiaries, whilst also enabling us to put plans in place to add to our service deliverables in the future. We will be looking at changing our membership portal which, although will be a change, will be easier to use and provide more features and information to our beneficiaries.

We have been able to work closely with other Assistance Dog organisations, and top level government officials, to start making plans for bringing the whole of the UK in agreement for all Assistance Dog users, whether they are charity trained, ADUK, nonADUK or owner trained.

## **Mission and Objectives**

- **Mission Statement** : _“To bring Equality to ALL Assistance Dog Users_

- _throughout the UK.”_

- **Objectives** :

   1. Provide advice and support to assistance dog handlers through publications and volunteers.

   2. Liaise between service providers and handlers during disputes.

   3. Educate service providers on their responsibilities regarding assistance dogs.

   4. Conduct checks to confirm compliance with the Equality Act 2010.

   5. Educate handlers on animal welfare.

## **Achievements and Activities**

## **Key Highlights:**

- **Support Services** : Provided advice and publications to over 50 assistance dog

- handlers.

- **Education and Outreach** : Although no training programs have been delivered

- over the past year, we have aided 15 businesses with adjusting their policies in line with the Equality Act 2010.

- **Dispute Resolution** : Assisted 30 handlers in resolving service access disputes.

- **Community Engagement** : Expanded our online presence, reaching an

- audience of approximately 3,000.
