Ringmer Rovers Junior Football Club

Trustee’s Report 2024/2025 Season

As the 2024/2025 football season approaches its conclusion, I am pleased to report that Ringmer Rovers Junior Football Club continues to thrive and offers football to approximately over 200 boys and girls from the age of 5 to 16 across 16 teams, plus the Academy, developing our younger players.

The Club ethos of ‘Football For All’ runs deep and we are committed that this continues to allow all children within our local community access to football to promote good mental health, team work and resilience.

It is a continued aspiration to develop girls’ football at RRJFC. I am delighted that Ringmer AFC are in discussions to have an U18 girls’ team in the forthcoming 2025/2026 season, many of whom are current U15s but play in a combined U15/U16 age group. With the development of additional footballing facilities adjacent to our Club grounds, we are hopeful this will increase capacity to encourage more girls to play football in Ringmer.

Our partnership with Ringmer AFC remains strong. We are grateful for their support and development of essential links between the two clubs to improve the pathway for young people to transition from junior to senior football.

Alex Truffet has been our Treasurer for a number of years and has been responsible for maintaining the healthy finances of the Club. Alex is stepping down as Treasurer; and on behalf of the Trustees I would like to thank him for his hard work during his tenure. I am delighted to welcome Kevin Bull who will take over as our new Club Treasurer shortly. Welcome Kev!

Despite a relatively small increase in membership and match fees this season to reflect increased costs since Covid19, these remain amongst the lowest fees in community football and provide excellent value for money for our members, ensuring that all children can access football at an affordable amount.

Our annual tournament remains a critical event to keep our fees as low as possible. The 2025 tournament will take place on Saturday 14[th] and Sunday 15[th] June. Registrations are looking extremely positive as always, with over 200 teams attending. The success of our tournament is a product of the hard work by the Tournament Committee (Catherine Kelly, Mark Kelly, Danny Mizon, Neil Burman, Amy & Stu Porter, Alex Truffet & Rae Riches) and their teams of volunteers who tirelessly turn up to run the tea tent, BBQ, car parking, litter-picking and countless other tasks that make us one of, if not the best tournament in the county. Thank you all!

Looking ahead to the future, we have reviewed our management committee membership and I am pleased to welcome Neil Burman, Dan Burgan and Dan Merry as coach representatives to the committee. I look forward to working with you all.

Ringmer Rover Junior Football Club flourishes and this is all thanks to the contribution of parents, committee, coaches and Trustees. We are extremely lucky to have such committed and hard working coaches to ensure all our children can continue to enjoy football each week.

There are, as always, too many volunteers to name in this report but Catherine Kelly and Danny Mizon continue to put in many many hours of work to make RRJFC run so efficiently. Huge thanks to you both.

The Trustees, Dave Pilfold, Richard Irving and Alan Foster ensure that we operate according to our values and according to Charity Commission requirements. Thank you all for your ongoing support.

I am extremely proud of RRJFC and the joy of sport and community spirit that runs through our Club is wonderful to see.

Up The Rovers!
