Cleethorpes Band CIO has had a strong and
progressive year that has focused on
continuing the development of the players
wrthin the band and further growth of our
audience.
The Senior Band attended three
competitions across the year, providing an
opportunity for players to further develop
their technical perfomance skills and
increase their confidence and experien￿ in
performing whilst being evaluated. The
feedback received from the adjudicators
both provided confidence to players as
supported the areas of focus V￿ had
identified for further developmerrt.
In addition to contesting the Senior Band
also performed nine concerts across the
year. We increased our reach this year by
performing further afield including two
concerts that were free for the public to
attend at Normanby Hall near Scunthorpe
and Salffieetby.
During the year, the charity arranged two
oncerts.of our own. firstly, to provide an
opportunty for people to reflect and
lebrate the 80th Anniv8rEary of VE day and
secondly to celebrate Christmas. Our
Christmas concert was perfonned to our
largest audience in well over a decade.
The Chari
ain
rovided musical su

to the tovms Remembrance Day parade, a
Christmas service held for those who have
losl loved ones during the year as well as
perfomiances to support runners and
entertain supporters at local road race
events. We also further developed our
partnership with Wahham Parish Council
providing an opportunity for the community
of the village to come together at Christmas
time.
The players within the Training Band have
continued to develop. A skills matrix was
established focusing on Grade One level
skills for players to work towards achieving.
Support was provided and all members of
the band have now achieved this level with
some members progressing much further
beyond this. The Training band had the
opportunty to perform at concerts during
the year with the latter being a partnership
with the Culture House, provKling a free
Carol singing concert in the Bandstand at
the towns local park. Over 200 people
attended this across all ages.
Towards the later part of the year
promoted our next beginners course which
will take pla￿ in January 2026 and will
provide another opportunity for people to
tske up or reongage with leaming a Brass
instrument and reaping the mental health
and social benefrts of playing as part of a
group.
A successful Gift Aid claim was made for
2024 A book published, about the history of
the band. contributed a small donation
The band purchased 3 n&w Eb tenor homs,
allowing our training band membets to
prog￿SS on to slightly more advanced
instruments and creating the opportunity for
new players to come in to the band in 2026.
Other instruments received maintenance to
increase their lrfespan viith repairs being
made to an Eb Bass and trombone. A
dehumidtfier was purchased to combat damp
in the library and office. Repairs were made
to the photocopier

The charty has been successful in
progressing players in the sènior band
through competing in three ¢ontests during
the year. This has provided a focused period
of technical development and PerfO￿an
skills. We have seen strong progress across
the year with improved performancas across
all three contests. This puts the Charity in a
strong posrtion to perfom well in both
contests and concerts in 2026.
The development of a skn'lls matrix for the
training band has provided clarity on which
skills to focus on as well as a measure of
SU￿ss. This has supported their
development and allobved individuals to see
the progress they are making. It has also
raised the performan￿ level of the training
band.
The charity has teen successful in widening
our reach, perfoming further afield that
previous years. By identifying perfonnance
opportunities that were free for aUdIen￿S to
attend Y￿ have also increased our reach
and accessitmlty to our perfomiances.
Our audience number5 have continued to
grow at our paid concerts also. w4th our
Christmas concert being the highest
attended in over a decade. As well as this
being a positive for engagement it also
supports the financial sustainability of the
band.
