CHAIRMAN’S REPORT for A.G.M. January 2022
Despite Coronavirus restrictions at times limiting volunteer involvement, a great deal has been achieved during the last year. The completion of repairs to damaged and fallen headstones means that all possible headstones are now upright and safe. Our emphasis has now shifted to reducing the amount of ongoing maintenance requirements.
We have been successful in gaining Grant support funds and also raised a significant amount from the Co-op Local Community Fund. In addition a number of generous private donations have been received. This has put us in a strong financial position and enabled us to commence the legal process of transferring the ownership of the graveyard into the Trust’s name.
Our social media following has almost doubled during the year and we receive regular queries and new information from family historians researching their ancestors interred here. We have welcomed many visitors and families from all over the country as well as official visits from our local M.P. and the Keighley Town Mayor. We have also formed a friendly mutual relationship with other Cemetery groups who are engaged in similar restoration projects.
So we finish the year in a positive manner looking forward to securing the future of the graveyard for the benefit of the community. We look forward to being able to welcome many more visitors and families.
