## **Trustees’ Annual Report for the period 1 January to 31 December 2024**

## **Objectives and Activities** 

The St Davids Penknife Club operates within the St Davids Peninsula in Pembrokeshire supporting charities and good causes within that area. We raise funds by organising local events including a New Year’s Day swim at Whitesands, local walks, film shows and various other fundraising schemes. We also receive ad hoc donations from supporters and collection boxes in local commercial premises. 

Our objective is: 

“To provide or assist in the provision of facilities, in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals, who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life” 

## **Achievements and Performance** 

The year began well with the New Year’s Day swim which raised just under £2000 and set the tone for the year. We are hoping to organise a similar event in 2025. 

The other events we undertook included 

- The May Walk which raised £1284 

- A new event for 2024 was a horse racing night organised in conjunction with the Farmers Arms Public House which raised over £1600 

- Working with Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cancer Cymru in support of their “Big Walk” on the Pembrokeshire Coastal path in July and the “Big Breakfast” at the St Davids Brewery in November 

- We assisted with the St Davids Carnival by providing martials. We also acted as martials for the switch on of the St Davids Christmas lights and organised the Father Christmas sleigh. 

- Helping with the Solva FA barbecue 

- We organised Pancake Day races and an Easter Egg Hunt for local children 

- A committee was set up to renovate the St Davids scout hut for community use and we assisted by providing a channel for the donations they received through a ‘go fund me’ page. 



## **Financial Review** 

We remain in a sound financial position (see financial statement for 2024). We raised £13,786 in the year and the balance in hand on 31 December 2024 was £7,447. 

We agreed donations to deserving causes totalling £15,526 in 2024 although over £4,700 of this was made in January 2024 from money raised in 2023. 

## **Charity Set Up** 

The St Davids Penknife Club (1187151) is constituted as a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation). The trustees for the year are shown below and they all stood for the whole of 2024. Subsequently L Cotton stood down and was replaced by S Cartwright, who is also the Secretary, for 2025
