In<br>September, after Covid restrictions<br>eased, we were able to resume our<br>lecture programme.<br>Our secretary, Sarah, has<br>established a regular newsletter full<br>of interesting articles and news of<br>group activities. Elspeth Dennett<br>volunteered to be Researcher for<br>the group and has undertaken<br>research on local mill owners and<br>Quakers and has led a walk around<br>Summerseat bringing to life its<br>industrial past. In June Sarah<br>resigned as committee secretary<br>due to other commitments but<br>happily will continue to edit the<br>newsletters. Janet Waterworth will<br>succeed Sarah as our secretary.<br>A group of about 20 SPAG members<br>are currently involved in our<br>Tunstead Project to record and<br>investigate the Grade II* listed<br>Waggoner Tunstead Farmhouse and<br>the surrounding vaccaries. Roger<br>Grimshaw has applied for a grant to<br>enable us to pay for a geophysical<br>survey of a site where we are<br>planning to organise an<br>archaeological dig.<br>Summary<br>The group continues to grow and is<br>making a positive impact on our<br>members’ lives.
