||Al-Hikmah Harrow has also helped|
||many from low-income backgrounds|
||who have not been able to afford|
||tuition fees, textbooks, Qurans,|
||stationery, etc with free materials to|
||support their learning.|
|•|In March 2020, when the UK went|
||into lockdown, this adversely|
||affected the charity and its ability to|
||deliver its services. Al-Hikmah|
||Harrow explored the viability of|
||online classes, managing to deliver|
||regular sessions between June|
||2020 and April 2021. This meant|
||that additional funds were spent on|
||exploring, setting up and facilitating|
||online classes alongside|
||communication and marketing to|
||highlight this change. We will also|
||need to plan for when the premises|
||will re-open with in-person classes|
||as it has been indicated to us that|
||premise hire costs will increase.|

## **Financial Review**

|**Financial Review**|||
|---|---|---|
|Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period|Para 1.21|At the end of April 2021, the charity held
funds of £15,940. Given the unexpected
pandemic and its impact on the charity, the
financial situation will be reviewed in 12
months in light of progression of the
pandemic and ability for the charity to
continue providing its volunteer-led
services.|
|Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held|Para 1.22|The trustees have reviewed the reserves of
the charity. Their policy is to hold as a
minimum enough funds to meet six weeks
of operating costs for the classes.|
|Amount of reserves held|Para 1.22|**£3500**|
|Reasons for holding zero
reserves|Para 1.22|Whatever is donated is used to fulfil the
services provided. We are volunteer led
and adopt a not-for-profit approach with
fees received for paying students
contributing towards premise hire,
educational resources and volunteer
expenses and training. Unless the charity
has over 100 students, there will always be
a shortfall at current costs, which is
assisted by donations. In light of this, the
reserves mentioned are part of the funds
available in order to maintain the delivery of
services. The trustees will monitor the
situation and act in the best interest of the
charity with regular donation drives and
keeping costs down so as to increase the
longevity of the services provided. Since
the time the charity was incorporated,
COVID has impacted our ability to raise
funds and deliver services. We have
successfully managed to continue
education this year partly due to the cost
savings from the forced closure of premises
and will continue to evaluate going forward.|
|Details of fund materially in
deficit|Para 1.24|None|
|Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern|Para 1.23|Given the pandemic and its impact on the
charity, we will review the status quo in 12
months.|

|**Additional information (optional)**
You may choose to include further statements|**Additional information (optional)**
You may choose to include further statements|where relevant about:|
|---|---|---|
|The charity’s principal
sources of funds (including
any fundraising)|Para 1.47|The charity is entirely reliant on donations
paid by those who support us. The fees to
attend the educational classes barely cover
the costs to provide them given the premise
hire cost, funds required to bulk buy books
and educational materials as well as
volunteer expenses and training.
If the charity struggles to deliver based on
the donations received, trustees have
agreed to (where possible) fund the charity|

|||to the appropriate limit in order to allow it to
continue running its services.|
|---|---|---|
|Investment policy and
objectives including any
social investment policy
adopted|Para 1.46|The charity holds no investments and
currently has no plans to amend this.|
|A description of the principal
risks facing the charity|Para 1.46|COVID has affected the charity’s ability to
deliver face to face services and has also
meant that our volunteers who are directly
or indirectly affected by the pandemic, may
not be able to provide as much time or
physical work as needed to deliver our
services. We will review the situation in 12
months, while continuously monitoring.|
