The Friends carry out conservation and improvement on and around the Grade II* listed Bennerley Viaduct on the Derbyshire- Nottinghamshire border. We inform the public through guided walks, talks, publications, exhibitions, outreach activities, social media and a website. Our work with schools, community groups and lifelong learners delivers learning about local heritage. We raise funds for conservation, improved access to the site and learning programmes to benefit those living in the shadow of “The Iron Giant of the East Midlands”. |

This will bring economic development and social cohesion to the area of significant deprivation in the adjoining areas of Ilkeston, Cotmanhay and Awsworth. |

The charity’s principal Para 1.47 The charity is looking to investigate further
sources of funds (including funding for NLHF and grant funders, such
any fundraising) as PHF and Esme Fairbain.

objectives including any investments with its funds, instead
social investment policy spending them on projects and the
adopted maintenance and improvement of the
viaduct and surrounding area.

INCOME. The total income forthe year was £42,221. A5 V11 as the generous financial support received from Railway Paths Limited, World Monuments Fund and several local councils,. it is particularly significant to note th3t just over £8.8 was received by way of memberships. donations and related 8tft aid.The continued support of members is essential and very much appreciated. EXPENDITURL The total experxliture for the year amounted to £21.924. Comprising mainly Cornmunity Engagement. Offi rent and general operating expenses. Most ofthe outgoFngs were covered by grants and other fundinE. It is our atm to ensure, wherever possible. that costs are covered by a funding stream in some way. MERCHANDISE. In arriving at the total excess of Income over Expenditurethe profrt on the sale o merchandise and donated goods is added. This amounted to £1.137 and is shown in greater detail in the notes on the second page. When the balance brought forward from the previous year1£6.0241 is added to the current years excess of Income over Expendtture. the total balan is £27,458. It Is reasonable to conclude that FOBV is on a sound financial footing. The balan is fully represented by cash at bank and PayPal. NOTES. The notes on the second page provide further details of the balances of funds most of which. with the exception of £2.511, are unrestricted. The notes also detail the Debtors. Prepayments. THE FRIENDS OF BENNERLEY VIADUCT INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT FOR THEYEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2021 I report on the accounts for the year ended 31 st March 2021. Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner The eharitvs trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charitvs trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under Section 14412) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act)) and that an indet£ndent examination is required. It is my responsibility to.. examine the accounts under Section 145 of the 2011 Act. to follow the prOdureS laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under Section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act). and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of the independent examinefs report My examination was carried out in accordan with the General Directions given by the Charty Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees conceming any such matters. The prOdureS undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, aThJ consequently no opinion is gsven as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view and the report is limited to ttK)se matters set out in the statements below.
