Chairmans Statement

In October 2024 the Shed suffered an immeasurable loss when its Chair, Frank Heald, suddenly passed away. Frank was instrumental in establishing the Men’s Shed in Fleetwood as it stands today. He personally ensured that the building was purchased and oversaw the refurbishment, applying for grants and managing the builders. Frank took Men’s Shed Fleetwood into a Charitable Incorporation assisting in the long-term sustainability of the group.

Men’s Shed Fleetwood would like to note its thanks to Frank and note their condolences to the family.

The Shed has been a thriving asset to the community in the year, assisting those with the greatest needs and providing a space for social inclusion. Meals are offered and space is shared. The Shed has increased sessions throughout 2024 to reach out further into the Community.

David Smith Chair

Structure Governance & Management:

The Charitable Incorporated Organisation was formed on 13 December 2019, its governing document was filed on this date.

Objectives and Activities:

The overall objective of the organisation is to promote social inclusion in Fleetwood and in the surrounding area, by relieving the need of those who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society. Following the global pandemic, the Hub has become a focal point for those who are looking to integrate in society after the period of enforced solitude.

As in the previous year Men’s Shed Fleetwood has provided donations to enable people to move out of controlling environments, provide food and clothing for their families and reintegrate into society. The Hub has given those in the community a safe and warm space to meet and share food and ideas and create new friendships following a difficult period in their lives.

Financial Review:

The Trustees consider the Charity to be in a stable position, it is expected donations and rental income, will be received to enable the Charity to continue with its operations. Further grants are being sought.

Reserves:

Reserves held are for the development of the Hub or for the running of the Hub and the rented shop. Unrestricted reserves at the period end are £34,987 (cash reserves (£13,107).

Public benefit statement:

The Trustees have complied with their duties with regards to Public Benefit as published by the Charities Commission.

Report of the trustees approved by order of the board of trustees on 4th September 2025.
