| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | The 2021/2022 school year was compromised by the effects of the COVID 19 Pandemic. After a 4 year re- location to Great Walstead School, GAPA was able to reopen on 01/09/2021 in its original home at the Hub in Haywards Heath College. The students were thrilled to be able to dance and perform in its wonderful, specially built performing arts facilities and studios. In April 22, our Head Girl Eve Lewis and our Dance Captain Eve Lewis achieved places on the BA Hons Ballet Performance course at the School of Ballet Theatre UK, which they have both accepted, in spite of being awarded places at London Studio Centre, London Contemporary Dance School and Northern Contemporary Dance School. They start at BTUK in September 22. On July 2nd & 3rd we were able to hold our first GAPA show back at the Hub since the closure of the Central Sussex College in 2017. Sadly our long time Patron Dame Beryl Gray was unable to attend because of illness, but Prizegiving was presided over by Principal Suzanne Gielgud, who also directed the show, and ably assisted by Patron Alfreda Thorogood and by former GAPA pupil now West End star Matt Trevorrow. Our new Head Girl was announced as Bella Evans, with Ella Richardson announced as Head Prefect and Libby Saunders announced as Dance Captain. A full list of medal winners can be found on our website. 26th August was the last day of our week long Summer School which was a performance of some superb student choreography. |

Financial Review
| Financial Review | ||
|---|---|---|
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | Because of the COVID 19 pandemic and a 2nd lockdown, the charity again started and finished the period in deficit but by significantly less than the previous year. Student numbers increased but to nowhere near pre- COVID levels. This period the Charity again successfully claimed a support grant from the local authority. |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | The only reason for reserves would be to pay rent and bills for the office space, in the event of no income. Staff are all freelance or volunteer so there is no payroll to maintain and we only pay for the performing arts facilities when we use them. |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | 0 |
