The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year etLd¢d 31 December 2025. The
trustees hav¢ adopted the prowsions of Accounting and R¢porting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice
applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance wilh the Financial RctK)rting Standard applicable in the
UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effe¢tive l January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND AcfiviTIES
Objeetives and aims
Hope P&stures Horse and Donkey Res¢ue and Welfare (Hope Pastures) is an independent horse. pony and donkey
sanctuary. The charity's mission is to rescue. rehabilitate and rehome horses. ponies and donkeys, with the aim of
providing each arti￿#1 with a safe. fulfilling lif¢ in a pemlanent home where possible.
Hope Pastures is open to the public six days a week and is free to visit.
The charity ha5 the ¢apa¢ity to care for up to 30 anima15 on site and is responsible for the welfare of over 100 horse5,
ponies and donkeys living ID loan homes. all of which receive ongoing support and monitoring.
In 2025, the charity..
Res¢ued 31 welfare horses. securing Safe placement either on site orwith partner charities
- Rthotned 26 horses from the site into long-temi loan homes
Alongside on-site care, the welfare team provides advice and support to horse owners wiihin the local community and
responds to public reports of negle¢ted equine5. The charity works alongsid¢ oiher welfare organisations with statutory
powers to s¢iz¢ animals. DuTing 2025. Hope Pastures attended to ov¢r 120 welfare ca￿S in the community.
Hope Pastures also provides educational opportuniti¢s for the local community. Its inner-city location allows peopl¢
who may not otherwise encounter horses or donkeys to learn about equine welfare. Educational visits have been
provided for schools. children's groups and sllpport OTganLsations.

The Vi51tor Centre, run entirely by volunteers. continued to perform well. li sells refreshments and pre-lov¢d goods and
provides a w¢l¢oming space for families. Income from sales ir)¢rea5ed by £7.426 compared with the previous year.
The Ta¢k Rummage Room rematns the charity's n)ost significant trading income stream. Following relwation and
expansion in 2024. sales increased again in 2025 by £12.456. bringing total tack sales to £45.993.

The chaTity rccorded a deficit of £381 for th¢ year ended 31 Decetnber 2025.
Legacy income r¢mains unpredictable. In 2025, legacie5 totalled £97,041.
Grant income intreased to £31.544, supporting welfare and infvastru¢ture improvements.
Veterinary and therapy Costs were £37,154, lower than in 2024 despite a high intake level.
Wage costs in¢reas¢d due to a government-led hourly rate increase. however, overall staffrng costs were lower than in
2024 as Sta￿￿ng hours decreased.
Reserves policy
The Trustee5 aim to maintain sufficient reserves to meet oi]going running costs should income fall significantly. As at
31 December 2025, investment reserves totallcd £174.506, equivalent to approximaiely 6 ￿onthS of operating costs.

Governing document
The accounts accompanying this report are the accounts of Hope Pastures Horse & Donkey Rescue and Welfare CIO, a
charity registered on 9 December 2019, Charity Registration No. 1186838. The Charity is governed by a Foundatio
Constitution, dated 9 Decemb¢T 2019.
Background
Founded in 1974 as The Phyllis Horvey Horse & Donkey Trusi, the charity was re-established by the current Trustees in
2004. lij 2024. all the assets, liabilities and activities frotn The Phyllis Harvey Horse & Donkey Trust, were transferred
to Hope Pastures Horse & Donkey Rescue and Welfare.
The foTmer Charity will fomally c105e once all administrative matters are completed.
Trustees
The chartty is govemed by three Trustees wsth a range of skills and experience. Two are founding Twstees, and one has
been post for two year5. The charity is not ¢utrently recruiting additional Trustees.
Risk management
The PTin¢ipal risks r¢main risin8 costs and uncertainty in legacy income. Trustees actively monitor these risk5 through
regular financial oversithi.
In response to financial prc55ures identifled in 2024, intake numbers were reduced in 2025, and staffJn8 levels were
r¢vi¢wed_ These actions contributed to financial recovery following losses incurred in 2023.
The Trustees have also developed a six-month wind-down plan to etksure animal w¢lfare and legal obligations could be
met should financial conditions deteriorace.

Ba$15 of preparing the rtnancial $tatementS
The fjnancial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in
accordance with the ChaTlties SORP {FRS 102) 'Actounting and Reportln8 by Charities.. Stsiement of
Recommended Practice applicable to ¢harities preparing their accounts in atCOTdance with the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effe¢tive l January 2019),,
Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of
Ireland, and the Charities Act 2011. The fitlancial statements have been prepared under the historical cost
¢onYention. with the exceptton of investments which are included ai market value, as modified by the
revaluation of certain assets.
The a￿ounts are pr¢sented in Sterling and are rounded to the nearest Pound.
Income
All income is reco8nised in the Statern¢nt of Financial Activities once the charity ha5 entitlement to the funds, it
is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Donated goods and servi¢¢s are included at the value lo ihe Charity where ihi5 can be quantified.
Grant income ts re¢ognised in incomc in the period irt whi¢h the charity has entitlem¢nt to the fund& any
perfomiance conditions attached to the grants have been met, it js probable that the in¢ome will be received and
the amount can be measured reliably and is not deftrred.

Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon a5 there is a legal or constructive obltgation committing ihe

PURPOSE OF RESTRICTED FUNDS
The balance on the restricted fund consists of £878 held over to cover costs relating to a wall and tra¢k sysiem,
