companionship. People For You has been operab'ng now for 14 years. thus ensuring its place as an
established and recognised service offering support to lonely. isolated and Vulnerab￿ people in the
community. It operales in Lethlade. Fairford. Tetbury and their surrounding areas.

People
For You
However, for the past year, everyone is onty too well aware of the impact of czjvld, In the worfd as a whole.
So, for the year of 2021, peop￿ For You has been hindered in providng its regular seprfw. So, in order to
minimize as much as possible the impacl of this virus. People For You has adapted its Servi￿ by offering
telephone befriending during the pandemic. It is vital that we continue to offer our s8r¥ice to those who arè
already lonely and isolated and a regular friendty voice on the phone can work wonders in keeping the dienl
Infomed as well as ensjring their needs are met. both emotionalty and practicalty. It is particulaty vital at this
tlme not lo feèl overlooked or forgotten and the People For You service providès a vital lrfeline.
One of the significant and positive outcomes from the Covid-19 pandemic is the wake-up call in sorAety in
general to the negative iffpacl of loneliness and kwlation. People For You's first reaction to lockdown was lo
engage wlth all the other support networks in the community io gel the word oul about the support we can
provide - to people maybe had not previousty had issues wth loneliness and isolatson untll the advent of
lockdown. People For You is now more widety recc•3nised and acknowledged as being vital as a seprfice in
support of the mental and physical well*eing of our ￿mmunIties.
However. wlth the posslble threat that c£*vbJ has imposed upon sowty as a whol8 now 888mlng lo wan8,

around in the dient's home. As a servicè wè are fully aware that we are wo(king with the most vulnerable age
group and so all necessary precautions are carrfied out.
People For You, loHowlng am the loCkd￿￿n$. Is also relntroduong 11$ social events. The88 are a Ilf8lln8 to
those who are housebound. and particukqty even rn0￿ vtlal now following Ihose l¢xkdowns. All dients and
volunteers enjoyed a 2 course Chrlstmas lunch, wilh all the trimmings. transport provided with no cost lo the
lent or the volunteer. We also propose undertaking more social events throughout 2022. which again not
only allow everyone to gel out of those 4 walls. but they offer the opporbJnity Yor people to socialize at the
events. facilitating the forging of new fn'endships and also r84gniting okl fn'endships. We provide a light
lunthlaftemoon lea. singing. bwigo, raffle, all sorts of entertainment to ensure everyone has a good tirne
together.
A$ referred to above, regukgr telephone befrlendln9 also plays a large role In our ser¥lce - for those dients
who, for whatever reason, prefer lo have a telephone call rather than a 1-1 Nislt or. indeed. as well.
P8ople For You is at the forefront in offerlng a ser¥lce that faalltales t￿mMUn￿ cohesion. We recnjlt
volunteers in the communty to visit isolated and b)nety people in the communty. This ensufBS that the
community is seff_supporting and "people led.. And ￿there viable, we tum the seNce on ils head - whith eAn
result In a client becoming a volunteer. The personal reward for the d￿nt is Self￿vident as is the inevitable
reward for the community. And the benefits and rewards for the volunteer5 1$ also self-evidenl. Many newty
tired volunteers struggle with the loss of routine and sense of seif-worth and satisfaction that Ihelr career had
previously provided. And their wort commitment previously undertaken often predud&d any real connection
with their community. It is well known that retirement brings up issues of loss of identity, a feeling of being
disconnected and lonely - and that is where People For You can offer a realty posrtive solution by providing an
opportunity lo connect and support their community - all positive factors in re4stablishing a sense of h￿h selr-
esteem, seif-worth, a sense of purpose and an opportunty lo "give back". If a communty consists of healthy.
happy people fulfilling a vital role. then inevitably this wil result in a healthy. happy o)mmunty that works
togelher and is 'people led-.
Future Plan•
Now that the covid vaoine is firmly entspnthed within the cornmunity. 1-1 visits are resuming together with
hosting our social 8V8nts for both dients and volunteers. We wlll continue to actNety promote People For You

People
For You
to ensure that everyone in the communty is aware of the sep4ice our tharity provides - and that everyone has
acoss to it.
