Section C Ob"ectives and activities To advance in life and relieve the needs of young people who are current and former attendees of Ysgol David Hughes secondary school and those who live in the catchment area but did not attend Summary of the objects of the the school through.. a)providing opportunities for short term work harity set out in its experien and placements which develop their skills, capacities, governing document and capabilities to enable them to contribute more fully to society and enhance their own futures., b)by providing grants for individuals who require financial assistance in order to attend such lacements. The Charity was registered on the 6th of December 2019 having already received an initial donation of £45,000 from Trustee Howard Gray Roberts in memory of his late mother after whom the Charity is named. Unfortunately. the COV Pandemic inlervened shortly after set up and the particular nature of the work of the Charity. i.e. sourcing work experience placements for young people and providing grants, where required, lo facilitate attendance was agreed, by all trustees lo be temporarily not suitable in the light of the unvaccinated risks lo young people and the measured reluctance of third parties to agree to placements in such an environrnent. The Chanties ambition was significant to both secur8 safe work experience placements for young people within the defined catchment area and award grants to attendees to assist with attendance I See abovel. Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects linclude within thls section the ststutory declaration Ihal trustees have had regard to the guidance Issued by the Charity Commission on publlc benefit) Regrettably, the Chanty is yel to commence the significant work needed to set UP the actions and structures for il to commence its intended function. This is due mainly to the fact thal two CO Iruslees are both in full time employment I not with Ihe Charilyl with a much-increased workload, since the Charrty was initially founded. The Charity intends to examine as lo how it can best proceed with its planned purpose going forward. This is especially in the context of, a relatively new. Welsh Government led scheme of just £1 per single journey for young people on the bus system. This scheme effectively removes, the cost issue, that this Charity had sought lo address via grants. 11 had been previously substantially more expensive for young people to travel to apprenticeships elc.
