Wark Recreational Charity (WRC) annual report for year ended 30th November 2024

The continued objectives of WRC are to provide sporting, recreational and social amenities and facilities for the village of Wark-on-Tyne and to extend these facilities to rural areas and villages outside the parish so that they in turn may avail themselves of the same.

WRC have retained the recently adopted cicket team whose successful progress has seen them promoted to a more senior league. Football teams, both senior and junior continue to be well supported and a programme of coaching for juniors attracts youngsters from a wide area. The clubhouse and facilities continues to be an attractive venue for a host of social events as well as a fundraising auction for the village school.

Trustees are aware of the need to pursue fund raising avenues in an attempt to retain, update and improve the facilities that we are fortunate enough to exercise some control over though, as in many rural areas, the pool of available volunteers is small.

Independant examiner’s report in respect of Wark Recreational Charity (WRC)

I report on the accounts for the year ended 30th, November, 2024

Respective resposibilities of the WRC and the examiner The trustees of WRC are responsible for the preparation of the accounts and consider that an audit is not required this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Axt 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is appropriate. It is my resposibility to:

examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act follow the procedures in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission section 145 (5)(b) of the 2011 Act, and

state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of this report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission.

Such examination includes a review of the accounting records maintaned by WRC and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes considering any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from those responsible concerning such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence required in a full audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.

I ndependent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act have been overlooked:

or that the accounts do not accord with the accounting records.

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
