## **Objectives and Activities**

Our aim is to enable anyone<br>who wishes to enhance their lives by<br>sport and thereby improve their health,<br>do so via recrea=onal rowing in a<br>happy, safe, suppor=ve, and enjoyable<br>environment, improving social<br>engagement, health, ftness,<br>confdence, team ethos and<br>encouraging lifelong friendships. This<br>includes those who have an<br>impairment or disability, sufering or<br>recovering from illness including for<br>example cancer, heart problems,<br>depression, social and fnancial<br>depriva=on, ethnic minority<br>disadvantages, young adults, and<br>physical rehabilita=on.|

We have<br>been ofering rowing as a once-a-week<br>session to JRG members, 7 week learn<br>to row courses as well as con=nuing<br>with tasters. Many of the sessions are<br>run by a volunteer but we have also<br>increased the number of paid coaches<br>all of whom undertake DBS checks and<br>safeguarding qualifca=ons via Bri=sh<br>Rowing.<br>The majority of our rowers have been<br>able to row due to the fnancial support<br>we have received via grants and<br>funding.<br>We currently work with the NHS,<br>MacMillan, Keeping Abreast, local<br>schools, Social Prescribing, ADHD HUB,<br>SEN groups, and individuals coming to<br>us with physical and mental disabili=es.|

The numbers<br>par=cipa=ng have plateaued this year<br>mainly due to fnding regular coaches.<br>We have maintained our current<br>groups which have a slow increase in<br>par=cipa=on and have ofered rowing<br>to a few new organisa=ons ie ADHD<br>Hub and Podsmead. We currently work<br>with those who have extra mental and<br>physical needs which include<br>wheelchair users, Cerebral Palsy,<br>Ataxia, Au=sm, Asperger’s, brain<br>damage, depression, anxiety, PTSD,<br>recovering from cancer. These<br>par=cipants have become regular<br>rowers and enjoy the sport as well as<br>the safe and suppor=ve space we<br>provide. We ofer all-inclusive rowing<br>crea=ng a strong social and community<br>environment, engaging members to<br>feel valued and having a sense of<br>achievement in a non-judgemental<br>space.<br>We frequently adapt our equipment or<br>coaching to accommodate individuals.<br>We are aware that we are the only club<br>within the Gloucestershire area that<br>ofers this type of facility making our<br>club unique to the county.|
