## **2. Structure, governance and management**
The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (foundation model), registered with the Charity Commission on 5 December 2019 and governed by its CIO constitution. As a foundation CIO, the charity trustees are its only members; new trustees are appointed by the existing trustees in accordance with the constitution.
The trustees are responsible for the overall management and control of the charity and meet as required to direct its affairs. The charity's activities are delivered by the trustees together with a team of around ten volunteers, none of whom receive any remuneration. No trustee received any remuneration or reimbursement of expenses other than the repayment of costs incurred on the charity's behalf.
## **3. Objectives and activities**
The charity's objects, as set out in its constitution, are:
- to promote community participation in healthy recreation for the inhabitants of Derby by providing facilities for playing table tennis;
- to foster mutual understanding between people from diverse backgrounds through the medium of table tennis;
- to advance the education and personal development of young people in Derby through recreational and sporting activities that develop their skills and capacities so that they may participate more fully in society; and
- to relieve the needs of refugees and asylum seekers, and to promote their social inclusion, through recreational and sporting activities carried out with members of the local community.
During the year the charity provided regular table tennis sessions, coaching and league play at its rented premises in Derby. The club is open to the local community, including young people, people from diverse backgrounds, and refugees and asylum seekers, and competed in the local Derby & District league.
In planning the charity's activities the trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, and are satisfied that the charity's work provides public benefit in furtherance of its charitable objects.
## **4. Achievements and performance**
The charity continued to deliver its regular programme of table tennis sessions and coaching throughout the year, and members took part in local league competition. The club continued to rely on the commitment of its volunteers, who give their time free of charge, and on membership, session and match fees as its principal source of income.
## **5. Financial review**
Total incoming resources for the year were £12,978 (2024: £11,987) and total resources expended were £15,973 (2024: £17,026), resulting in a net decrease in funds for the year of £2,995 (2024: decrease of £5,039). The principal items of expenditure were the rent of the club's premises (£9,550) and utilities (£5,105).
The charity's funds at 31 December 2025 were £13,356 (2024: £16,351), all of which are unrestricted and held in the charity's bank current account. The charity held no restricted funds during the year.
**Reserves policy.** The trustees aim to hold unrestricted reserves at a level sufficient to meet the charity's ongoing commitments, principally hall rent and utilities. Reserves at the year end were £13,356. The trustees note that reserves have reduced over each of the last two years and will keep the level of membership and session fees, and the charity's running costs, under review with the aim of returning the charity to a balanced budget.

## **6. Accounting basis**
The accounts have been prepared on the receipts and payments basis in accordance with the Charities Act 2011. As the charity's gross income for the year did not exceed £25,000, the accounts are not subject to independent examination or audit.
