||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document|Para 1.17|The purposes of the charity are to:
1. To advance the education of the public,
and public sector professionals, on the
issue of forced marriage and honour-
based abuse throughout England and
Wales, in particular, but not exclusively
by:
i) Delivering awareness talks and workshops
in local communities and to professional
bodies; and
ii) Providing training to a professional
standard to organisations that provide
services that further the purposes of the
charity.
1.To address the needs of people suffering
from, or who are at risk of, forced
marriage and honour-based abuse, by
signposting to appropriate support and
services.
2.Creating a multi-agency network of
available services and professionals to
increase awareness of, and access for
those people.|
|Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.|Para 1.17 and
1.19|The charity’s main activity remains the
provision of educational, awareness raising
talks and training presented to community
and professional groups. This financial year
the training workshops have continued to be
delivered through an online platform to
continue the charity’s work through the
pandemic.|
|Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit|Para 1.18|The charity takes full consideration of the
Charity Commission’s guidance on public
benefit. Many charitable and third sector
organisations that provide direct support to
victims are still running remotely. There
remains a significant increase in calls to
helplines supporting victims of forced|

marriage and honour-based abuse as the pandemic has progressed. This, combined with ongoing demand for the Sky Project’s training from wider groups is testimony to the vital need for increased awareness of these issues and appropriate signposting for victims at the earliest opportunity.

## **Achievements and Performance**

|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|The pandemic has continued to present
enormous challenges with regards to open
networking and providing face to face
training. Despite this the Sky Project
continues to adapt and has managed to
meet ongoing demand for its training
workshops and talks.
11 training sessions were delivered in this
financial period to a wide range of groups
which included the Cabot Learning
Federation (Bristol), University of the West of
England health and social care students,
Bristol Women’s Voice, and Irwin Mitchell
law firm.
Links have been established in South Wales
to deliver a regular programme of training to
trainee and qualified GP’s as part of their
safeguarding adults CPD.|

Charlotte Gage was successfully appointed as an additional accredited trainer for the Sky Project. Charlotte brings a diverse range of skills and expertise and has been an asset to the charity in furthering its reach amongst different community and professional groups. Our volunteer, Zara Liedl has continued to raise funds, however small, and in particular, she has increased our online presence for donations to be received. Our Director, Sabeena Pirooz, has chaired the Forced Marriage Working Group in Bristol. The group has focussed on actions to address some of the shortcomings highlighted in the previous HMIC police report, and has continued to build a network that can more holistically support potential victims. Sky Project has worked closely with Avon and Somerset police to address training for officers. A bespoke police specific training session has been developed and successfully delivered to several groups of officers already. The aim is for this training to be a regular programme in line with officer turnover. Our Director, Sabeena Pirooz and Zara Liedl were invited to speak to Laura Rawlings on bbc radio bristol which gave exposure to the charity but also, highlighted the importance of this area and the difference we have made both locally and nationally. The Sky Project were also finalists as ‘Charity of the Year’ at the Great British Expos South West Business & Community Awards.

## **Financial Review**

|**Financial Review**|||
|---|---|---|
|Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period|Para 1.21|Funds held in the charity bank account at the
end of this financial reporting period were
£11, 411.30|
|Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held|Para 1.22|The charity currently has no formal policy for
holding reserve funds but in recent trustee
meetings this matter has been discussed.
There are essential regular costs that need
to be covered and this contingency fund will
be incorporated into formal policy.|
|Amount of reserves held|Para 1.22|Current calculations require £2,000 to be
held in reserve which would cover essential
charity costs for 12 months. This would
include insurance, website hosting fees,
CPD accreditation and materials for training
sessions.|
|Reasons for holding zero
reserves|Para 1.22|N/A|
|Details of fund materially in
deficit|Para 1.24|N/A|
|Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern|Para 1.23|There are two main ongoing risks to the
charity continuing in its work.
1. The charity is dependent on donations
and grant funding which is unpredictable.
Implementing a reserve fund would
provide 12 months security in the event
of no grants or donations being awarded
in any one financial year.
2. 2 trustees are also trainers who provide
their services voluntarily alongside their
full-time employment. To help mitigate
against lack of availability to deliver
sessions the charity has taken on a
freelance trainer who is paid per session
delivered, and for time used for any
essential administrative work (e.g.
meeting minutes, transcribing, arranging
training sessions). However, her time is
limited given her other job role.|
