However, we were able to hold a Xmas lunch for the old infirm and
lonely which proved to be very successful and was to be the launch of
various weekly and monthly activities such as Pie and a Pint, games
afternoons and physical exercise for the elderly such as walking
rugby. With lockdown, our plans were suspended and we were
forced to change the format for Xmas 2020 when we delivered over
200 Xmas meals which encouraged volunteers and was very
gratefully received. During 2021 we hope to get the other activities up
and running whilst extending the support to other dates when the
old and lonely are often forgotten such as Easter.
During the Pandemic we have been able to facilitate a lot of help and
support in Pocklington and surrounding villages by providing the
club premises to be used as the local support hub. During the early
days this included helping with food and support to the vulnerable
and isolating, and we were also able to give People’se Pantry a
permanent home for their food parcels. As restrictions have eased,
the club has also been used as a testing station. We are hopeful that
