Activities & Achievements
-
Objectives and Activities:
-
The Legion Community Club is run by a group of dedicated volunteers. We currently provide coaching based on the amateur sport of boxing to all ages. Boxing as a sport has many different layers, it teaches discipline, dedication, focus, independence as well as the importance of being part of a team.
-
Our goal is to foster a commitment to young people and the community that will promote prosocial friendships, strong interpersonal skills and reassert a sense of hope for the future. Instilling qualities only achieved in the sport of boxing will give the youth of today the commitment to follow through on a path into adulthood with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
-
Achievements and Performance:
The club targets children from a young age and brings in the youth and young adults most at risk of falling into a community rising in knife crime and gang culture. Empowering our young to respect others and support their peers through the love of sport including boxing, and other fitness activities has inspired them to work hard as they navigate their way through life. More importantly to engage in healthy activities for both the body and mind. Our young people have achieved their dreams, winning both local and national competitions.
The charity was awarded a national award from the Sport and Recreation Alliance for resilience in the face of hardship.
- Fundraising: Grants were secured by the Chloe and Liam Trust to purchase a boxing ring, The Community Foundation which allowed us to refurbish the gym space,
Sport England to run the little thumpers and buy essential equipment and Mark Clauzel from the Gym Group to purchase flooring. The charity complied with all the grant requirements on time and to the grant specifications.
Financial Information

-
Income: The CIO gains income from services to its users, fundraising and grants.
-

-
