Achievements and performance

Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The Trustees report to the general public
that the Charity has seen a positive increase
in its capabilities and activities during the
second year of operations. The Charity’s
efficient processes facilitated by positive
values and modern technologies have
resulted in the recruitment of new
volunteers, particularly from amongst
adopters, who have enhanced and
developed their skills whilst helping to raise
the profile of the charity and support its work.
The charity now has a very strong brand
identity, enhanced by bespoke
merchandising, and an informative and
educational website. This has helped the
charity to educate, neuter, rescue and
rehome cats and dogs from Romania. Some
of the achievements are:

Raising in excess of £88,000 towards
foster, veterinary, and transport fees;

The maintenance of £5,000 in cash
reserves for emergencies and potential costs
of offering rescue back up to unsuccessful
adoptions;

Completing 3 neuter campaigns in
Galati, Tulcea and Constanta which resulted
in 71 neutered dogs and cats preventing an
increase of the stray population of over
19,000;

The successful rehoming of 130
animals during the year: 88 dogs and 42
cats. Although the number is lower than the
previous year’s total (141), a ban was
imposed by DEFRA on the import of pets
from Romania on 14thApril 2022 which
lasted until October 2022 hence impacting
the Charity’s ability to pursue its objectives;

Engaged in meetings with
representatives of DEFRA with regards to
the safeguarding measure, information
gathering, and possible solution to allow the
import of dogs and cats from Romania.
The Trustees thanks all the volunteers,
donors, supporters, and followers for their
efforts and look forward to continuing to
operate the Charity in the years to come to
benefit cats and dogs from disadvantaged
backgrounds and humans in need of a
companion.

Financial review

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 The Charity had £3,967 in its bank accounts
and £1,904 held with Facebook and PayPal
as of 30/06/2022. There were no bills issued
by foster carers or veterinarians in Romania
that were awaiting payment (creditors). The
board allocated those funds to cash reserves
to provide for emergencies in Romania and
the UK and provisions for bills not yet
issued.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 Based on the first 2 years of operations
rehoming dogs and cats to adopters directly,
the board reviewed the risk of failed
adoptions at 5% of animals imported and
assumed an average stay of 2 months at
licensed kennels at an average cost of £350
per animal which would require access to
around £4,500 to meet financial obligations.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 £5,000

Para 1.22 N/A

any fundraising)
Para 1.47 Donations, Gift Aid
Investment policy and
objectives including any
social investment policy
adopted
Para 1.46 N/A
A description of the principal
risks facing the charity
Para 1.46 The decision of rescuing dogs and cats
directly means the Charity will assume the
risk of failed adoptions and animals needing
emergency boarding kennels. The trustees
hold sufficient personal wealth to cover
those costs may the charity not hold
sufficient funds.
The impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the
general public’s finances is likely to cause a
medium-term decrease in income, therefore
the board is aiming to broaden the number
of supporters at a lower average donation.

Recognition of income
These are included in the Statement of Financial Activities (SoFA) when:
 the charity becomes entitled to the resources;
 it is more likely than not that the trustees will receive the resources;
 the monetary value can be measured with sufficient reliability.
Grants and donations are only included in the SoFA when the general income recognition
criteria are met (5.10 to 5.12 FRS102 SORP).
Gift Aid receivable is included in income when there is a valid declaration from the donor.
Any Gift Aid amount recovered on a donation is considered to be part of that gift and is
treated as an addition to the same fund as the initial donation unless the donor or the
terms of the appeal have specified otherwise.
There has been no offsetting of assets and liabilities, or income and expenses, unless
required or permitted by the FRS 102 SORP or FRS 102.

Donated goods for resale are measured at fair value on initial recognition, which is the
expected proceeds from sale less the expected costs of sale, and recognised in 'Income
from other trading activities' with the corresponding stock recognised in the balance
sheet. On its sale the value of stock is charged against 'Income from other trading
activities' and the proceeds from sale are also recognised as 'Income from other trading
activities'.

and included in the SoFA as incoming resources when receivable.
Donated goods are measured at fair value (the amount for which the asset could be
exchanged) unless impractical to do so.

the estate and any conditions attached to the legacy are either within the control of the
charity or have been met.
The charity has incurred expenditure on support costs.
Donated services and facilities that are consumed immediately are recognised as income
with an equivalent amount recognised as an expense under the appropriate heading in
the SOFA.
Gifts in kind for use by the charity are included in the SoFA as income from donations
when receivable.
Support costs
