Showtime Community Production CIO’s charitable aim is: The advancement of education in the arts of theatre and theatre Summary of the objects of the production for public benefit by providing opportunities for people in West charity set out in its Bromwich and the surrounding areas to engage with and practice all governing document aspects of theatrical production through the production and presentation of amateur productions.

Our initial activities this year were to create performance opportunities and workshop with the aim of advancing the education of the arts and performing arts and continue to develop our policies and procedures. We continued to raise awareness, promote and publicise our charity within our local community to attract participants to our drama sessions. Yet another year has passed and Showtime Community Productions CIO Summary of the main has gone from strength to strength. With new faces and more achievements of the charity opportunities relating to theatre and theatre production. Each year we during the year strive to approach our charity’s aims in different ways. This year has been no exception. Success of the previous year's pantomime had brought us new members and new ideas. The year began with a murder mystery evening. This would be written, directed and performed by our adult members. As work began on the murder mystery evening we celebrated the coronation of King Charles with the Royal British Legion in Wednesbury. Showtime took part in a fun day. Although this was not a performance opportunity it was a great way to celebrate together and raise funds. The murder mystery ‘murder on board’ set on a cruise ship entertainments lounge the show was an interactive performance which relied on script work improvisation and close interaction with the audience. Through this production the cast had a chance to work under their own initiative and use their imagination. They had to cope with some moments of pressure and had to stay in character throughout the whole evening. We also had the opportunity to video record ‘the murder’ happening so it could be played back on the evenings which was a good twist to the performance and the audience enjoyed. Our next production focused on the children as we work towards our Community Performance of ‘The Mad Hatters Tay Party’. Again, ideas and script came from in-house along with an awry of costumes and props. In this show, most of the cast had named roles and for the children although they did not speak had to act and portray these characters. Our Showtime juniors who had only performed a street performance once before, now stepped up to play individual roles. Their enthusiasm, interaction with each other and the audience showed how much their confidence had grown throughout their time with Showtime Community Productions CIO. All the showtime juniors like to perform however there are other aspects of a production that make the show. The technical side to make sure music is played on time also is part of the production. During one of the performances at Wednesbury carnival one of the children had Stepped out of the performance and was given the opportunity to call the cues for that show. With guidance, they followed the script which was being performed in front of them and gave instruction to they sound engineer to play tracks and sound effects. This was a fantastic opportunity for one of our younger members to see and be part of. Afterwards they remarked on how they had enjoyed it and how different it was then being on stage. During the build up to the performances we had the opportunity for a photoshoot and video to help us promote the community show. This took place in Brunswick Park in Wednesbury. The cast dressed up in their costumes and had another opportunity to perform in front of the camera and video. Everyone enjoyed this experience with some wonderful photos and a promotional video that was used on our Facebook page to promote our work with the community. We performed our community show at Shareshill Village Fete and Wednesbury carnival. We had stalls at both events to raise funds for our future productions. In September work began an annual pantomime, which this year was ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. Little did we know at this point, all the possibilities and opportunities that lay ahead. We also launched our Facebook competition to connect with our community and promote the show. Rehearsals continued through October leaning dances, comic

routines and scenes. Everyone was working together to build and move the show forward. It was quite easy to see the teamwork and bonds that the group were making between all the generations. As Christmas was sneaking up on us fast, it was time for the towns and local areas to turn on their Christmas Lights. This year Showtime Community Productions CIO Members attend Friar Park Light Switch On, 17[th] November 23. It gave us an opportunity to connect with a different area of Sandwell. The Members handed out flyers and encouraged members of the community to come and see our Pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. They even got a chance to advertise the show on stage, which was an unexpected chance to showcase their public speaking and promote ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. Although this may not be seen as a performance the members gained confidence and repour with the community and audience, which are skills they could later use during the performance and in everyday lives.

The 21st of November four of our members where part of a podcast which was done online with Jason Forrest. Was a right opportunity for our members and we hope we can do this again in the future the podcast received 648 views on Facebook which we were very proud of.

We attended Wednesbury’s Christmas light switch on on the 25th November 2023. This year we challenged all of our Showtime members to take as many photos with the public as possible who attended when's be light switch on they would all be used to create a collage and put on our Facebook page. By doing this we hoped to bring a bit more attention towards our production and hopefully sell more tickets. The cast decided that they would stay in character for the whole light switch on to help promote the show and draw attention to what we were doing. This was another way of St performing as the cast had to improvise and couldn't plan a response to what they would be asked or how they would react in certain situations. The cast had many photos with the public, shop owners, counsellors, guests at the light switch on and market stall holders. It proved to be very beneficial to Showtime as we were making our presence known and also we had many comments on how we had created a happy friendly atmosphere at the light switch on by doing our photo challenge and interacting with everyone. We also had the chance for the whole cast, including the children, to perform on the main stage. The main cast promoted the show verbally and sang while the Showtime juniors danced. Again, we had a very positive response to our performance and we we're glad everyone could be part of this. It was I great opportunity to connect with and find out more how we can support and integrate Showtime community productions CIO into our community and what a positive effect we are in Wednesbury.

Christmas School holidays brought us another chance to make scenery and props for our pantomime. With several members, young and old, being creative and the materials that we had collected over the years being reused, we were able to make some amazing flats and scenery. Our ultraviolet props this year were big bugs which again were made by our members. After making an impression last year without underwater ultraviolet scene, we were sceptical as to whether we could top it, but with all the creativity of the group, recently made another big impression. We ah so privileged to have so many creative and talented artists within Showtime who are willing to bring their knowledge and share with others their imagination and craft to build some amazing scenery sets and props for our shows.

On the 14th of January the express and star came to take photos of us in costume for their newspaper. It was a great opportunity for our younger members as this year we pushed them forward to be part of the photo. We managed to take a couple of really nice photos with the whole cast which were used to publicise the pantomime in the town hall. The express and star also expressed their interest in reviewing our pantomime. Again Showtime had never had the opportunity for anyone to review our shows and we welcome this with open arms. Jason Forrest attended one of our performances and also wrote a review on his milk bar podcast which was released on the 19th of January 2024 on his SoundCloud and Facebook page it was an amazing review that we were all thrilled with he commented ‘they are aged there to put a few smiles on peoples faces and they certainly did that last night’. He also went on to say ‘this is exactly what you expect to see from a great community group with the heart in the community and showing off what they can do to enjoy themselves and put together a production which they can all 100% be proud of’. On the 20th of January 2024 Paul Jenkins from the expressing star count interview some of the cast and to review the show three members of our main cast were videoed having an interview with Paul explaining about their characters in the show. He also interviewed 3 over Showtime juniors and although they were very nervous showed great initiative in their first attempt at a video interview. The express and star review was published in the express and star paper and on the online web page. This was now the second time we had been in the express and star within one week. In his review Paul went onto say ‘the performers and backstage members of Showtime have proved you don't have to go to big venues in Birmingham or Wolverhampton to get a good quality family pantomime and it will wrap up today after a very successful run.’ He also commented ‘from the script with many funny references to football and Wednesbury landmarks like IKEA and Mecca bingo the original jokes hit the mark in every way from young to old alike. The characters interacted well and the youngsters in the cash showed lots of maturity. It was clear the hard work had gone into it.’ From these two reviews we certainly achieved what we set out to do with this year's Pantomime. Bishop we were lucky enough to be able to offer a performance during the day for schools free of charge. We had six schools take up the offer with most of them being local. He had children attending from nursery age to high school age. We also asked the schools to fill in a questionnaire while they were there as to how valuable the free performance was to them. From the feedback the schools praised our performance our organisation regarding health and hey there all valued the free performance. We had comments of ‘the children enjoyed the performance with lots of bright colours and music.’ ‘Some children had never been to say a show so it's an amazing experience to give them.’ ‘For many it is a first experience and really important to grow their cultural capital looking forward to next year's. ‘The show was fantastic and all our students had a great time they were smiling and laughing and this is the type of experience doesn't come along very often for a special group of young people.’ This is all valuable feedback as we know that Sandwell is a deprived area and we have the opportunity to support the local schools and inspire and encourage children from Sandwell’s community. Share with offered more opportunities to learn backstage and technical side of theatre production throughout performances. Theatre production is not just about being on stage it is about all the hard work before you get to the performance and what happens behind the scenes. We have

taken people in different directions working with professional technical mentors being on stage for the first time, using their creativity and working together to produce scenery, props, costume and set, devising their own pieces of script and improvisation, encouraging our youth members and watching them grow learn and build their confidence to perform larger roles on stage. Through learning from each other we have all gained skills that have helped us in our day-to-day life. They'll continue the next year to work closely with our community as we strive to hit our charity zones and bring joy into the community through our work.
